While every media indication is that Imus' comments were racially repulsive. I'd like to hear the phrase he used in its full context. Does anyone know where I can find the audio of his comments?

Here's the text (somewhat in context). Looks like a little one-upmanship going on with the comment string.

Imus made his remark the day after the Rutgers team, which includes eight black women, lost the NCAA women's championship game to Tennessee. He was speaking with producer Bernard McGuirk and said "that's some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos ..."

"Some hardcore hos," McGuirk said.

"That's some nappy-headed hos there, I'm going to tell you that," Imus said.

i think of if Imus replaced into black, it might have blown over. i'm thinking if he could have been fired via NBC IF he replaced into youthful. My coronary heart went out to Imus on account which you are able to desire to tell he replaced into particularly sorry for sying what he did. yet i assume the two PREACHERS Reverend Sharpton and Reverend Jackson don't think in Christ's coaching on forgiveness. they want vengeance and that they won't end till they administration the rustic. this is all approximately what the Blacks want so their emotions will never be harm. large crybabies!!!! And to those solutions that say all and sundry could have nappy hair is incorrect. Nappy hair comes from African blood in one's ancestry. No different race, (and there are only 4 races; Black, White, Yellow, pink) produces it however the black race. enable's be straightforward here.

I do not find the comment to be racist, just offensive. I am a white girl with nappy hair and I know a lot of other white girls with nappy hair. I think he was just going for laughs and not thinking about race. To tell the truth I am surprised Al Sharpton hasn't demanded oreo cookies be taken off the shelves because they are a racial slur.

I'm so sick of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Every time a celebrity makes a remark that is out of line they come out like vampires to suck the race card blood and ring the cash register. Imus knew he was out of line...He said so. He doesn't have to kiss anybodies ***. He's a brilliant man who doesn't have to apologize for making a joke, but he chose to. Jesse, Al and the rest of you sponges. . . shut up and get a job

More and more we are seeing the real racism that exists in many of us manifesting itself in "goofs"...slips of the tongue...
or just downright angry outbursts revealing what we really are inside.

Mel Gibson in Malibu
Michael Richards at the Comedy Store.
and now, Imus (in the Morning)...

On his show Monday, Imus called himself "a good person" who made a bad mistake".

No, you're a racist I-Man, just like most Americans (black and white) who won't admit it but eventually display their true colors.

If "nappy-headed hos." isn't a racial slur, I don't know what is.

Anyway, here's the latest:

It is a racist remark because the remark was based on RACE. Saying they were hoes would of been offensives but nappy head hoes is pure racism. I'm sure those girls did not have nappy hair, and hoes is up for debate because some people do think that black women are hoes. Unless he know who every one of those players are sleeping with and who does there hair he is a racist.

I honestly don't know what the big deal is. Unless I'm missing something, that's far from the worst thing said on talk radio.
