Please notice I mean PS/2, NOT Playstation 2. Anyway, I'm working on some projects and need to enter text to a PC through devices other than keyboards, I am not familiar with the USB protocol but it seems like a Parallel-in, Serial-out shift register might do the trick. Do you know of any IC's that might help me with that? Thanks a lot.

Like I mentioned before, please notice that the text will be entered by other devices, not keyboards, so I can't just use a USB keyboard or USB keyboard adapter. Thanks

I'm using this one for both P/S2 KB and mouse on one USB port of my laptop. It is plug and play in Win XP.

Why reinvent the wheel. You can buy one for $10 or less.

Read reviews, there are a lot of ones that are no good.

I bought this one at Tiger Direct it worked perfectly.

From the way your question is written; why not use a keyboard adapter to plug your KB in the USB port. You will need to enter your PC's BIOS to enable both USB Legacy and USB Keyboard Support.

Here's what it looks like;

Good luck!
