Superman has been romantically linked to many women in his life.

The earliest one was Lana Lang; they knew each other as teenagers in Smallville.

When Clark was in college, he met a beautiful and mysterious girl in a wheelchair, Lori Lemaris. He wanted to marry her, and even offered to give up his plan to become Superman! But she refused, saying they could never marry. When he used his x-ray vision to inspect her apartment he discovered, instead of a bed, a tank of water! Lori was a mermaid from Atlantis.

When Superman accidentally broke the speed of light chasing a strange space creature, he accidentally traveled through time into the past, and returned to Krypton before it exploded. Since he had no super powers on Krypton, he realized that his native world had reclaimed him, and that although he had temporarily escaped as an infant, he was doomed to die with his fellow Kryptonians as an adult.

Wishing to meet his parents, Jor El and Lara (before he was born) Kal El appled for a job at the missile base where Jor El worked and became his assistant.

They introduced him to an acquaintance of theirs, a beautiful young actress: Lyla Lerrol. When the handsome young scientist Kal El (preoccupied with his foreknowledge of the impending destruction) did not seem interested in her as Krypton’s wealthiest and handsomest men were, she was intrigued by him.

When Kal El was finally resigned to dying with Krypton, he succumbed to his fascination with the lovely young actress. They had a romance that made the burning core of Krypton seem ice cold by comparison! They planned to marry, no matter what might happen in the future.

You can find out how the story turned out by going to ‘Superman Through the Ages’, which has his best classic stories on line for free!

Sally Selwyn was another romance. Superman was stricken with amnesia by Red Kryptonite, which also temporarily removed his powers. Not knowing how to account for himself, he went under the name of ‘Jim White’ and became a common farm laborer at a dairy. The owner’s daughter was Sally. Sally loved Jim because he was so kind and good hearted, but he felt unable to romance her because he was a poor nobody.

He asked her to marry him anyway, and she accepted. ‘Jim’ then took a chance to ride a wild bronc at a rodeo for a cash prize that would provide him with a stake in life, so he would not be dependant upon her father’s wealth. But a jealous rival slipped loco weed into the horse’s food, and the animal threw ‘Jim’ and he was paralyzed from the waist down.

Despondent he told Sally to forget about him and find someone else, but she insisted that she loved him and only him. When the Red K effect wore off, ‘Jim’ recovered his powers and his memory as Superman and Clark Kent— but LOST his memory as Jim…! He left never knowing how deeply and truly Sally loved him.

Supergirl took an active interest in her cousin’s love life, introducing him first to Helen of Troy in the past, and Saturn Woman (the grown-up Saturn Girl of the Legion of Super Heroes) in the future. Neither of them worked out, so Superman told Supergirl that anybody he married would have to have super powers like theirs.

Supergirl set her super computer to search for a planet with such a woman and found Luma Lynai of the planet Starryl. She derived her super powers from Starryl’s orange sun, just as Superman derived his powers from Earth’s yellow sun. They fell I love and she came to Earth to be with him, but when she arrived on earth, they discovered that the yellow solar rays were poisonous to her! She went home sad, for she loved Superman but knew that Earth needed him more and she would never forget him.

With all the romantic disappointments Superman has had in his life, it is a good thing there is Lois Lane!

Lois Lane is/was his wife/GF/love interest since forever. assorted rewrites have had him engaged to a mermaid, Lori Lemaris and intimate with Lana Lang, but by most accounts Lois Lane has always been his one true love, and quite often his only phyiscally intimate partner.

Lois & Clark can't have sex. Superman can't have a regular lover. I guarantee you he blows his load like a shotgun right through her back. The only way he could have sex with a regular girl, is with a kryptonite condom...and that would kill him.
