I asked a question about the possibility of having Universal Health Care, and people who disagreed talked about not wanting it because they didn't want to take care of people. One idiot talked about someone else who answered the question and called me a "socialist". Is this part of the reason why the rest of the world hates us?

To those who called me a "socialist": I didn't realize trying to find ways to help others was being a socialist. I guess I'd rather be called that then a "selfish bast@#d" huh?

Does the American Nazi Party help you, which you probably give to them anyway, or does it help certain people? Universal Health Care helps an entire country - The American Nazi Party, the KKK, and whomever else that don't like those people. I have concerns about getting help to those who need it. YOU are concerned with your own self. Get THAT?

Priority: Here's my take on this whole mess. We each have a vote - lets pool those votes and vote only for people who want our agenda. Than we make them do what they said they would do. Then we have a government we want --- no wait, this plan sounds familiar - oh yeah, I remember now its the way this country is supposed to work!! The way I see it is if enough people want Universal Health Care then it is definitely do-able and those people who want to talk mean to you are probably the same one who give me crap - hello, guys suck it up and try to muster a little respect for the other guys view.

You are a socialist. You act as if thats a bad thing there are plenty like you. But look closely at counties touted as successes in Universal health care. Canada long has been the bastion of success in this area why are there constantly referendums etc to try and go back to our current system. Basically all you get from universal health care is driving everyone to a minimum very marginal standard of care.

I've been called a communist, and I didn't quite understand why. People don't really care anymore. They are too busy multi tasking and looking down on people who are different from them. It is so sad. Remember when people would do kind things for no reason? Like open doors or pick up things when someone drops them. I took some flowers to a hospice after Easter for the nurses to hand out to residents that didn't have visitors that day, and the receptionist thought I was kidding. No one does nice selfless things anymore. And people don't know how to react when they do.

The problem in politics is that nowadays, society only thinks about things that directly affect them and the issues that are on the TV. Politicians are only taking about the War and things like that because that is what society wants to hear, but there are still very important issues like Health Care and Social Security that need attention.

I hope that you didn't take offense to people's idiotic insults. They just don't understand universal health care. We have police, fire, schools, and roads that are all socially funded. Healthcare, in my opinion, is just as important as those other government funded programs, if not more so. Why should healthcare be taken out of the equation? The reason is money and greed by insurance companies. The people who said they don't want to pay for other people's health care should think about who they pay their insurance premiums to. It goes to other people's health care. Duh. So if the government was to subsidize healthcare for nonprofit, everybody would actually save money and those who have their employers pay for their insurance would have more money to pay their salaries so everyone would benefit except the insurance companies. Boo hoo. I think we will have one hell of a fight on our hands with insurance lobbyists but it would be well worth the fight!

Unfortunately, the people in charge happen to be the ones that care about people---only in every other country. Its ridiculus how much money this country has and how high the poverty level is.

First of all, F*ck the rest of the world, socialist. I never said I didn't want to help people, just that I would like to do it voluntarily through charity, not be forced to do it with tax dollars. It is not the role of government to help people, just to protect them from the oppression of others. I give to charity often (I would be a hypocrite otherwise), but see the governent stealing my money as slavery. You confuse governemt programs with "caring". Caring is something done by an individual, not a giant faceless bureaucracy that mismanages stolen funds. Don't equate healthcare with caring either. Your bleeding heart seems to be lead by a brainwashed mind.
Once again, you confuse "caring" with "trying to find ways to make the government bigger and steal individuals money" When was the last time you donated to a charity or put in time at a soup kitchen? Caring starts with you, not with pushing for more taxes to punish me for others irresponsibility.
Well, we can turn it into a pissing match, but the root question is still not answered. Casa de los Ninos, a local charity for abused children, Vietnam Vets of America, Beacon foundation, helps the mentally disabled. I chose to help those. What if I donated to the American Nazi Party because I thought they were good people? Now, what if I wanted to take your tax dollars to give to them, because I thought they were good people? Would you agree? No? Now you see how I feel when the government tells me how to spend my money. I don't like them, and don't want to pay for what they think is right. Get it?
This would be much easier through the email, but whatever. Lets say The ANP (which I do not contribute to, you racist) provided lunches to disadvantaged kids. That helps everyone right? And the assumption that universal healthcare helps everyone is ridiculous. You have cancer. I don't. How does universal health care help me? I'm paying to help you? How does that help everybody? That makes no sense. In my opinion, a welfare check for every person in the nation is helpful as well, but are you willing to have your taxes raised to 75 percent to help cover it? Justy how far does your big government socialism strech? Is there an end to you desire to limit personal rights? Hey, as long as you "feel good" about stealing my money for something you see as a benefit for society, theres nothing wrong with it. If thats true, send me 20 bucks mr. caring, I need to pay for my athsma meds tomorrow and can't afford it. Lets see how far your "love" goes when it actually comes out of your pocket.

"Caring about people" does not equal footing the bill for their medical expenses. Ever heard the old adage: "Give a man a fish, feed him for one day - teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime" Truly caring about people means teaching them how to care for themselves and pay their own expenses.
The person who called you a socialist was correct.
