OMG, I just had one in the house tonight. I'm terrified of them. I ran in the bedroom and sat in there for five freaking hours until my husband came home and got it out. They're probably living in your attic so do a THOROUGH inspection of the top floor walls, ceilings and vents. They can squeeze through a crack or hole as small as a half inch. We covered up where we thought they were getting in last July and didn't have any more problems. But my husband recently did some work on our shower and took a piece of tape off a hole in the shower wall. Now they came back. Check the outside of your house up by the roof for gaps where they could get into the attic. Try to fix these things after dusk after you're sure they've left for the night. I really wish I could figure out how they're getting in also. One more bat in my house and I'll probably die.

First you want to determine just how they are getting in. If it's through a window make sure to either keep it closed or use screens when leaving the window open.
Bats don't really have a bony structure in their bodies so it is very easy for them to enter into really small spaces. We had some enter our house because there was a very small hole in the roof from a hail storm. Once one found the way in others followed.
If it's not from an open window or something simple like that you may want to have someone inspect the roof and in general the home exterior to determine their entry point.

OOohh. Be careful. A guy in my province just got rabies from being bit by a bat. It sounds dumb, but it's common, apparently...
I guess you just have to figure out where they're coming in.

When everclear and absinthe wold not help me to get to sleep I used to open a window and let the little visitors fly in. They were a great comfort. I found a poor little dead one and cried myself to sleep on the floor. The next morning I was going to bury it but I could not find it. I cried all day. I find now that 6 glasses of my mixture helps me sleep now.
