Well I dont know if this is the best homemade ant killer but I do know that it works and you probably have the stuff. Sugar and Bleach. Mix in a small dish or bowl, both sugar and bleach until it becomes kinda pasty But make sure it is moist . After you have it mixed up, find one of the trails and put some of this down on your counter they will come to get the sugar but leave with a mouth full of bleach. By the time the get back to their nest the bleach will kill them. Just dont let it get dry because then the bleach will not be as effective. This could bleach your counters so you might want to find something flat that you could put it in.

Borax works great. Make a band around the outside of the house, and even around the bed. And vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. Wondering where you live that they don't sell talc? I live in the tiniest little town in rural Vermont, and every convenience store sells powder.
