If I get this right, you have to simplify root square of 25y^8 right?
step 1: 25 y^8 = (5^2 * y^2 * y^2 * y^2 * y^2)^1/2
here the y^2 means y power to the square and this * would mean multiplication. When there is presence of same component such as y, the exponent adds up together.
y^2 * y^2 * y^2 * y^2 = y^8
step 2: simplification = 5 ( y^2 * y^2 * y^2 * y^2)^1/2
step 3: simplification = 5 y (y^2 * y^2 * y^2)^1/2 = 5 y^2 (y^2 * y^2)^1/2 = and it goes on to the final answer 5 y^4 or 5y to the fourth power.
Hope this was helpful
