At the same speeds, the Core 2 Duo will be better, hands down. Intel has been no.1 in the laptop area for many years, and Core 2 Duo improves upon the previous Core Duo, which was able to beat AMD's laptop offerings.
However, keep in mind that the graphics card affects gaming performance much more than the CPU, so spend your money on a good graphics card. For example, upgrade your graphics to at least a Geforce Go 7600 or even better, 2 Geforce Go 7950 in SLI. But the 2nd configuration is the choice of rich guys, and most people can't pay thousands for a gaming system. Personally, I'm waiting for DirectX 10 mobile graphics cards to come out.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 2.0 GHz @ 4MB Cache 667 MHz FSB is an alright processor, but you will encounter lag and cinematic skipping.
As for AMD Turion 64 Mobile ML37 2.0GHz 800MHz FSB L2 cache is good at handling video games, but not as strong as the Intel Core 2 Duo T7200.
If you want to destroy the Intel core 2 Duo processor, then spend your money on an AMD 64 Turion X2 2.0GHz 2000MHz L2 Cache.
I bought an Alienware Aurora M9700 with the New AMD Turion X2 Processor and when I take it to college, people with Dell XPS try to compare multi-tasking with me and I blow them away with my speeds and benchmark ratings.
My Alienware is cheaper but more powerful.
Intel Is overpriced and gets owned by AMD Turion X2

Gaming performance is much more dependent on the GPU. Most gaming benchmarks are done for the GPU or videocards. If you really want to enjoy games in a laptop, get one with the best videocard. Unfortunately, the best and speediest videocards are huge and just made for desktops, like the monstrous and power hungry Nvidia 8800 GTX.

never had any of those but AMD is rising and lots of "hard core" gamers go with AMD over intel... also if you get a 64 bit operating system and everything else is runnin compatably in 64 bit AMD served Intel a can of whoop ***... in other words intell got the 64-bit thingy wrong and AMD practaly made it... 64-bit processing is becoming more and more common and probably soon will be the new standard... my advice... go with AMD but remember im no expert.
oh and AMDs sell for cheaper normaly...
