If she stole money from someone would you let her just put it back and not say anything? I'd hope not, she'll never learn anything from that. You need to fess up just like you'd expect her to do. Tell her the whole situation and and why you did it and don't do it again.

You should have asked for it in the beginning ... simply stating that you were either low on cash or just didn't have any on you at the time ... then merely telling her that you would give the money back as soon as possible.

Now you're in a bind ... I suggest that you give it back with an explanation and an apology, explaining that you should have asked. She will have a lot more respect for you, hopefully will use it as a "learning lesson", and "you will sleep much better at night".

My mom has asked to *borrow* money from me about 5 times in my 18 years of living. If she ever takes money without telling me, it’s because I’m gone, and she always leaves an IOU, as well as only taking a few 1 dollar bills. Technically you should tell her what you did and give it back. But if you can’t face her, just put it back anonymously. Don’t steal from your daughter. Sincerely knowing it was wrong doesn't take away from the gravity of what you did.

sounds like you are already feel sorry and guilty
then why dont you put her money back

if you are low on cash then you can ask some money from your daughter 2 days later.
i am sure she will give you because you are a loving mom.

That was evil of you and there is no excuse for it. Tell her what you did, pay her back immediately, and apologize. Then ask Jesus to help you get over the evil influence that caused you to do such a thing to a person who loves and trusted you. You can regain her trust if you try, but if you don't straighten this out you have just poisoned your relationship with your daughter and you will pay for this mistake for the rest of your life, and even after that.

definitely put it back but next time try asking her for it first i'm sure she will hand it over knowing you are going to repay her. that was dishonest and low. if she has noticed it you should have spoke up and said i'm sorry i was low on cash and really needed the money i'll pay you back and next time i won't invade your privacy and ask first. imagine what you would have done if it were reversed?

You should have said, I'm low on cash could I use your babysitting $$ till I get paid. Come clean, because if she ever finds out, you'll lose any respect she has for you....

Just tell her you were sorry that you took it but that you were low on cash, and thank her for it and pay her back with some intrest. Assure her that you would ask her permission in the future.

I hope you borrowed it for something important and not for beer or something not needed, you should have more respect for yourself and your daughter, otherwise you would have known the answer to this question before you asked it, you need to talk to her, put the money back with interest, and work on your communication with your family....

So you let your daughter believe her money was stolen? Shame! I always put an IOU slip in their piggy banks.... Yes, you should pay it back and tell her it was you and that you are sorry.
