Troy Smith probaby won't get drafted until the second or third round, at the earliest. At 6 feet tall, he is undersized for an NFL QB. He is a decent scrambler, but he lacks the blazing speed of a Michael Vick. And he's not very accurate as a passer, especially on the run. He has good arm strength, but would need to be on a team with receivers that can flat-out run under the long pass, no matter where it's thrown. He's a good candidate to back up the likes of Donovan McNabb or even Steve McNair. Despite the Heisman, he'll be an NFL project, and no one will waste a first round pick on a project. I truly don't see him going until the middle of round 3.

Heisman winner...but his height and inability to beat Florida is going to hurt his draft position. I'd say if he does go on the first day...it will be 3rd round pick by a team that really wants a back up QB...Minnesota perhaps? How about Tampa? Whatever, just throwing two out there...

Smith would be a decent QB in the NFL...but decent wont win championships. The thing I wonder is this. Drew Brees isn't any taller than Troy Smith...and he's more mobile, so he does have that going for him. I wont say Smith is going to be a bust because of the position he'll be drafted in...if anything he'll be a gem for some team to take in the middle of the draft, I don't care what these people say about him, he's not that bad of a QB...just a rookie.

Troy Smith will be lucky to be picked before the 5th round. He has no skills. I know he led OSU to the National Championship game and won the Heisman, but that award does not choose the best player, it chooses the most exciting and Smith was exciting. He is too short to be a first day pick at QB. He strength was creating, but he is too slow to do that at the NFL level...just look was UF did to him. He accuracy is average at best and he doesnt have the leadership qualities to play at the next level. He went to OSU as an athlete, not as a QB and the same will be true in the NFL. He is a late second day pick, if he gets picked. Plus he is an idiot.
Ps there are lots of Heisman winners who do not get drafted...like any Nebraska QB.

Late 3rd
STEAL!!!!!

its funny b4 the NC game he was Late 1st, and no one had any idea who JaMarcus Russell was, now look where we are Troy Smith is garbage, and Russell is GOD. Either way u look at it the scouts and the analysts suck. the Draft is all about hype so it doesn't matter where your picked.

It Just gives Troy more to prove

Basically I think he'll be a late 2nd to fourth round pick. He did not help himself at the combine, and depending on what his work ethic really is, some team could get a real steal in the draft.

At this factor, Oakland or Detroit might have the #a million average p.c.. ... and Troy Smith would be taken on the proper. the two group might desire to apply a sturdy rookie QB to rebuild their group around, and Troy Smith could slot in the two scheme truly properly.

3rd round pick, because in team combines he was overweight and didn't run the 40. I think the Raiders will get him as insurance over the obvious #1 pick in the draft, Mr. Russell.

What about the Saints with one of their 3 picks in the fourth round. Payton likes to groom young QBs. Look at Brees, they are the same height but i would say Brees is pretty damn good. I dont think he will make it past the third round but u never know.
