Would the probability of you winning the lottery be better, worse, or the same compared to the chance of getting hit with a lightning bolt?

In the USA the probability of being struck by lightning is roughly one in 3 million.
Some of the big lotteries sell tickets for a dollar and have a one hundred million dollar prize. Assuming that at least 50 percent of the "take" goes to the government, then 2 hundred million tickets would be sold.
This means your chance of winning is 1 in 2 hundred million.
So you are about 70 times more likely to be struck by lightning.

Since I don't play the lottery I would say it's a toss-up between the lightning or slipping in the bath tub.

the 24million lotto. you have a better chance of being struck by lightning on the way to get the ticket.. and the way back than actually winning that lotto

It really depends on where you live, maybe storms are worse, and also how many people play the lottery in your state.
