It doesn't mean people who dont wash their hair. A nappy head is someone like many blacks who cannot run a comb through their hair because its so thick and curly. We also say it if your hair just looks wild or can see your 'naps'/curls on the back of your head.

It is offensive if someone calls a black person this not just because of the words, but because of the roots of racial relations in this country. One way whites have in the past and today have the attitude that white hair is better and that being black has a negative connotation.

Would you call an Asain person slanty eyes? Should you call a Jewish person a JAP?

You know how you wont get mad at your brother for making a joke about your mom but will fight a member outside of your family for saying it? Or how people who live in trailers can call themselves trailer trash but its not right for other people to say it? It's sort of like that.

its not racist, its mean. a -nap is a clot of tangled hair. the term 'nappy' is used mostly among black people because it is most common in our hair because of the texture. ppl of all colors can have nappy hair but it is not often a problem for white ppl because their hair is so straight.

i assume ur asking this in reference to comment IMUS made about those black female basketball players. this is one of those instances where a normal word can be turned into racism due to context. HE was using it in a racist context. it was meant to insult based on race.

It's mean. When ho is added to it and said by a white man on the radio or tv, it's racist.
