MCS is a lot more common than is generally recognized. An excellent book on this subject has been written by Sherry Rogers, M.D. Dr. Rogers is a specialist in environmental medicine with over 35 years of clinical experience in this field.
The book is called "Detoxify or Die". It is available at Amazon.com. I highly recommend it.
Best wishes and good luck.

Hi Gone Too Long.
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) no longer is an enigma in our society. Unfortunately, more and more people have it in some form or another as many in the health care industry are accepting it as a concrete diagnosis.
This chemical sensitivity can encompass any or all of the senses: sound, touch, taste, sight, and smell. These sensitivities are real, and cause the sufferer much discomfort.
MCS is defined as a multi-system disorder usually brought on by toxic exposure to a chemical or chemicals. The exposure can be acute, i.e. a large amount of a toxin over a short period (hours to days) or it can be long-term, a low-level exposure over a period of weeks, months or years. Look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Multiple_Chemical_Sensitivity/
With the right nourishment, the body can heal itself, resist disease and fend off toxins much more easily. Pharmaceuticals and air purifiers may provide relief, but do not solve the problem.
Start with the colon. Add fiber to the diet, cut out processed food, sugar, and high glycemic carbohydrates. Do not use artificial sugar... use Stevia instead. Stevia is an herbal supplement that is very sweet, works well as a sugar substitute and is actually health promoting.
Drink lots of water, plain clean water. Water is so effective at eliminating toxins from the body, cleaning out the sinuses, and rinsing away cellular waste.
Eat lots of fresh vegetables. Try to eat only organic food.

Yes, I've heard of it. From what I understand it's fairly rare and makes the person's life rather complicated since, as the name suggests, they're sensitive to many, many chemicals that are used in daily life. Some people are overly sensitive to detergents used for washing clothing, soaps for bathing, deoderants/perfumes/hairsprays etc. Some people are even very sensitive to pollutants in the air and have to live outside of cities. I don't believe there is anything in particular that everyone with M.C.S is sensitive to though.
As far as I'm aware there is no cure. The best thing to do is avoid the things that you have any kind of allergic reaction to. This may, as I mentioned above, make life a little more complicated as you'll have to find out what's in just about anything you buy and avoid products with things you know you're sensitive to.

Do a colonix and detox program. MCS is a caused from years of exposure to everyday chemicals, pollution, perfumes, etc. You body is on overload and it's trying to tell you something! A really good colonix and detox is from www.dr.natura.com. This is the one I used for severe hives which were caused by chemical sensitivity. I used this program for one month (they recommend 3 months) and after 8 months have not had one single breakout of hives. It was well worth the money spent! Not one single doctor could help me get rid of the hives!
Good Luck!

Yes, I have heard of it - I have a mild case of it. You need to try to avoid as many of the allergens as you can. You should also start a detoxification program. The more toxins you remove from your system the more you can tolerate the chemicals you are exposed to.
Here is a referral website for MCS

Allergies are the bodies natural reaction to a foreign object. However it is unclear why some folks react to some foreign objects and others don't. I don't think it is classified as overreaction, rather simply not understood. There is no really cure for allergies, but there is theapy. Allergy shots can "train" your body to see the foreign object as normal, hence react less (or not at all) to it.
