My 11 yr old daughter is driving me nuts with some of these words. The one that drives me nuts for some reason is "SNAP". What she doesn't realize is that it has been around for awhile.

Snap in context: Ohhhh SNAP! You just got BURNED!

This question is so...AWESOME!

Whatever.

That track is so...BANGIN.

Yo, DAWG - whaddup? (Pound.)

That's the worst - that whole pound thing. Er excuse me, thang.

Saying CHILL instead of COOL is also a bit odd...

All of this stuff makes me think of Valley Gal talk that was so popular in the early 80s. I'm sure the sources of these expressions were quite unique but unfortunately a lot of people have jumped on the band wagon and destroyed anything that may have been unique a long time ago...

I'm trying to train myself to say, "Snap!" I always say, "Crap!" and that doesn't sound so nice around the little ones in my life.

The word I never liked, especially when I was teaching, was "aah-eet," for "alright." It just sounds so doofus.

My 12 yr old daughters and all their friends always say, "Man, they are so friggin gay!" I told them that gay also meant happy and they still keep saying it! So now, everyone in the entire 6th grade is gay!! Imagine that!

The term "Whatever" is over used in my opinion. It is usually followed with "the hand" and the neck wiggle. Very annoying.

you're right, oh snap is a pretty annoying slang word.

I can't stand when people say "bit" when they mean ***** or
"whatever", or when people say "like" a billion times

Now ya see? I "love "snap". I think it is really cute. "Sweet" bothers me. Someone tells you something cool :o) and the other person says, "SWEET!". Bugs me.
