Bush says, it's going to be a long struggle.
He must have known that he couldn't finish the job in his term, that he would have to pass it on to his successors.

Bush must have an opinion on who he thinks could best finish the job. Has he done anything to groom a successor? Any idea on who would be Bush's choice for the job?

Anyway, he's already declared mission accomplished. He's accomplished his mission.

Who's better to finish the job? (or)
Who could get them home the fastest?

Some good answers here. Calico says 10,000 soldiers have to die, but she's sick of these questions.

Bush started this whole mess with a lie... he got us into a war we should not have to fight and just because he is too stubborn to admit that he made a mistake, yes.. someone else is going to have to clean up the mess he has made.

Does he care? no.. he will go happily to his ranch with his oil money and live out his haunted life.. and I hope it is haunted. i hope he cannot close his eyes at night without seeing 3200 dead soldiers and thousands and thousands of maimed and injured.

He has served this country a great disservice because he was incompetent to start or wage this war. The country wanted him to go to Afghanistan.. to find Osama and that was it. It was when he let his personal feeling about Saddam become a national struggle that he did the wrong thing.

i can only hope that6 he lives to regret every mistake he made. The fact that this wimpy congress is not trying to impeach him makes me sick.

Yes, Bush has known for a long time that this war would press on beyond his term. On the political opinion shows these days, those representatives who stand behind Bush consistently mention that in order for his "plan" to work, it will have to continue for at least another two years, five most likely. I think he probably did have someone in mind, John McCain was probably meant to be the annointed one. But as goes his failed plans in Iraq, so goes his choice for a successor. McCain will not be President.

Bush didn't anticipate how large the opposition to this war would grow to be. I believe in his arrogance he thought that he would leave such a positive legacy behind him that we would rush to the voting booth to place another Republican in the Oval Office, anxious for them to carry on what he started. But bad planning and incompetence has doomed that dream. Now he and his Administration are just trying to keep their heads above the waters of corruption without drowning.

Hillary Clinton has a good plan for Iraq, a very good plan. She understands the realities of the situation and has formed a plan that ends the policing of the Iraqi civil war, leaving a base of operations there to discourage Iranian interests, and while bringing home the military that badly needs a rest, she will send the fresher troops to other areas of Iraq and Afghanistan where Al Queda is having a hey day. She will restore good relations with our Allies and work with them in the War on Terror for the betterment of the entire world, not just the United States. I believe that Hillary was definitely not the person he would have chosen to continue his "work," but she will be the person that ends up having to clean up his mess. At least I hope so, I think she's one of the few that has the skills to do so.

Actually I think he said that he knew that the next President was going to have to finish the job. But he said that recently. He said the mission accomplished thing a long time ago.

Okay, Im about sick of these questions. You dont win a war by complaining about it. In fact anything you try to do doesnt get done by complaining. So heres the deal smokey, we cannot leave until 10,000 soldiers die. Okay?? I dont know why that number but until the investment gets closer to that we're not even going to talk about it. Get over it.

He started a mess and he knew someone else would have to finish it. I guess he is just hoping that someone will do worse than he did to get the heat off himself.

It will take time to complete the job.. the people of Iraq need to realize what it means for ALL people to have rights under the law in order for them to support a Democracy there instead of a Ruthless Dictator killing off his opposition...

It took Moses 40 years of wandering in the desert to change the hearts of his people.

I would think that Rudy Giuliani would be able to finish the job. He understands what is at stake. Any Democrat would get 'them' home the fastest...I expect they'd just admit defeat, but they wouldn't call it that. In essence they would find any excuse to ensure 'they' are quickly out of harms way.

You mean he failed his job. If you haven't accomplished it in 8 years, then you are a failure.

He has succeeded in ruining the lives of hundreds of dead solders and their families who miss them.
