how do i make 56/x into just x??

56 divided by x is the same thing as 56 over x. so to get rid of the 56, you would divide by 56. since the original problem is 56 over x, you would then do 1 over 56 which cross multilplys, the 56s cancel, and your left with 1x, which is the same thing as x

56/x into x would come about not by reciprocating because that would equal 1 but cross multiply 56/x =1/56 the 56's cancel out and you are left with 1x or x( 1 being understood)
