I've been on the pill for about a year now and at first it was great. It reduced my cramps and that was a big problem for me when i was younger. I have tried the patch after i had my son but it gave me a rash and the edges didn't stick very well. But about 6 months ago i went to the doctor for my annual and they told me i had a yeast infection. I didnt have any side effects so i wasn't aware. I took the one dose pill and got rid of it but ever since i've gotten a yeast infection about every 2 months (with side effects...it's horrible) and i can't take it anymore. It just dawned on me that it was the pill and my doctor gave me some with a lower dose but yet again i have a yeast infection!!! Obviously it's the hormones so i don't think the ring will be good for me either. People have recommended the IUD but i've heard a lot of horror stories. My husband can't use condoms (he's larger than most men and there uncomfortable) and i dont want to mess with sponges or female condoms. Help!!!

You've greatly limited your choices. Do all hormones affect you or just certain ones? The depo provera injection is a hormone, but not the same as the pill.

I have a friend who has used an IUD for years and just had one replaced. It's her method of choice.

Not everything works for everyone. Do some research online on the pros and cons of all the forms of birth control, and decide what you'd like to try to see what works for you.

I hope you find something soon that you find satisfactory. Are children in your future? If not, perhaps you or your husband would consider getting sterilized.

I had a lot of problems with birth control too. I took and/or tried everything. I had DepoProvera shots for a couple years and really liked that, but they caused me to develop thinning bones, so I finally had a tubal ligation. It changed my life. An alternative is for your husband to get a vasectomy.

If you haven't had children or you're not done having children, you might have to use a barrier method like the sponge or a diaphragm. If you don't want children anymore, the tubal ligation or the vasectomy are the way to go.

I have a weird suggestion for you... get tested for histoplasmosis. I was getting yeast infections EVERY month for about 6 months. Mine were soo severe that I have to finally take the one dose pill...FOR THREE DAYS to clear it up! Finally, I got a chest x-ray when I had a case of bronchitis, and they noticed a spot. A MRI showed it was a tumor sitting above my trachea next to the branch into my lung! After it was removed, it tested positive for yeast fungus, and a form of histoplasmosis. I am on meds, and have had no more problems with yeast infections since. Look into it.

The recurrent yeast infections are an imbalance in the good bacteria. You need to replace the good bacteria in your system that the pill killed along with the bad. You can also do a yeast cleanse or candida cleanse. Both are found at your local health food store.

Can't he use the Trojan Magnum XL? I would go with the deppo shots and alot of my friends have great success with them. They say the only side effects are possible weight gain but you just need to know how to maintain it. Hope you find what your looking for...

If your going to use implanon I would recommend using condoms as well. Not all contraceptives are 100% safe but if your using two different types at the same time, you should be fine. Good Luck xx

As far as condoms go, has he tried magnums? (the condoms for larger men) That may help.

Try vcf it works. (vaginal contraceptive film) You just have 2 wait 15 min after putting one in.

Well, you already have a child. Could be time to do the responsible thing and consider a more permanent method.
