XBox 360. But don't buy it yet. On April 29, they are coming out with Xbox 360 Elite. It is black and has a 120 GB Hard Drive. It is faster and cools down better as well. Wait for it.

The best way of answering this is to consider the use you will get from it when you purchase it.
The Xbox 360 has a years worth of games available already, so theres not a huge chance running out of stuff to play.
The PS3 just came out, costs more and doesn't have as many games, leaving a smaller choice to have something you would like.
I waited a year to get an Xbox360 and my friend got one at launch, he was always moaning about waiting for games or spent hours playing demos from XBOXLive!, because it was all he could do on it, which seemed sad to me :p
Its the same with the PS3 at the moment, except the PS3 is more expensive. The PS3 may be the better all round console, but its not worth purchasing until theres a bigger back catalogue of PS3 Specific games.

Xbox 360 Core System delivers the powerful gaming but starts with the basics and lets you expand at your own pace. It’s everything you need to hit the ground running. Plug in the console and the controller and you're playing. Then decide what extras you add---it's expandable to the full Xbox 360 experience.
while PS3 Fittingly, the central feature of the PS3 is its CPU, the Cell processor, which was codeveloped by IBM, Toshiba, and Sony. The PS3's Cell processor uses seven "Synergistic Processing Elements" (SPEs) plus an eighth for "redundancy," and is designed to dynamically handle multiple operations. Graphics are produced through the RSX GPU, which was codeveloped with Nvidia. The console has 256MB of XDR RAM for use by the CPU, and another 256MB of GDDR3 VRAM for use by the graphics chip.
PlayStation 3 games can be written to DVD or Bluray discs (BDs), the higher density format codeveloped by Sony and Toshiba. Like the PS2, the PS3 is backwardscompatible, and can play both original PlayStation and PS2 games, as well as PS3 games. It can also read and play audio, video, and other files from a variety of contemporary media formats, including CDs, DVDs, and BDs.
I go for PS3

PS3. Playstation historically supports its consoles better than X box. They had a much much much larger game selection from ps1 to ps2 than x box ever had. Plus the PS3 is more powerful, more "cutting edge." My brother has both, and we are both much more impressed with the PS3.
However, neither console really has anything out that is just amazingly great and necessary to get. Resistance is about the best thing out and it's not worth the 600 large you'll have to put down for a PS3 right now...

Ok this is how i see it....
You can buy a X-Box 360 and a Nintendo Wii for the price of one PS3.....
I know PS3 sounds like its all that, but friends tell me that PS3 is so not worth it.....
Also many bugs, seeing that it is newly released

i've got not heard lots concerning to the PS3, different than at rumor that in case you play a interest on it, the interest would be coded to purely play on that device. that's in all probability completely untrue, even if it makes me hesitate besides. The snap shots on the 360 are magnificent and that i admire the instant element. i'm basically waiting to get the patches downloaded for my xbox video games and that i would be good to pass.
