Whenever you have a "heartbreak" or you are sad, why does your chest physically hurt?

I have always wanted to know this.

Another one I have always wanted to know is...
When you are sick you dont want to move or speak or anything, so why does it feel so good to groan?

its all in the mind, pain is just one of the senses, you can ignore it if you want, its hard, but its possible, i think the pain is your brains way of making it physical, and with it being your heart that is hurt, you get stressed, this can add to the actual pain aswell

and when we groan, i think thats just one of the funny parts about being human more than anything lol, but its away of showing that we are in pain, and trying to get some relief by trying to verbalise it

What goes on in your mind has a strong effect on your body's production of enzymes and hormones which regulate the functioning of the body. Fear stimulates adrenaline, pleasure releases endorphins, and stress affects the whole system. The groan is just a way of expressing what you feel, and expressing your feelings helps reduce stress.
