The nation of Israel is a genetic line. Their core religion was Judaism. All Israelites today are NOT Jewish.

brittany (below) I hate to break this to you. If you convert to another religion, you are no longer Jewish.

Facts take priority over what-I-thinks.

Awful! What a completely muddled question deserving of muddled answers. One's faith is inextricably bound to one's identity. Religion is hopelessly equivocal in modernity. There is more hope for those interested in the subject matter provided you have the capacity to understand how a people came into being before the covenant. Particularly interesting is how Abraham sealed it.

Because "Jewish" is both an ethnicity and a religion. If Brittany, for example, is a Jew who converted to Catholicism, she would still be an ethnic Jew who now practices a form a Christianity. She's still a Jew, though. Yes, some Jews in Israel are ethnic Jews, religious Jews, and Israelis, and some are not ethnic Jews, but may be religious Jews because they converted to Judaism. You CAN be both an ethnic Jews and a Christian. Anyone who is a citizen of Israel is an Israeli I agree, though, that there is NO Jewish state.

You are right, there is no Jewish state. The nation of Israel does not have a state religion. Though Judaism does hold some amount of influence through the chief Rabbinate e.g Jewish status of immigrants, if food is to be labeled kosher, it has to be approved by the Rabbinate. These are basically cultural things. But I think the main thing is that the "historical" land of Israel was the promised land for the Jews and I think thats where people mix it up. The confuse the current state of Israel with the biblical land of Israel

FYI Chabibi (amigo)-All Israelis are Jews. Israel was a state/country given to the JEWS specifically, since they were kicked around so much in Europe-they all escaped to the Holy Land, where the remains of the Holy Temple are-the Western Wall-which is park of the JEWISH belief.

You're confusing confusion of religion and ethnicity with OTHER states man...Israel was given specifically for the Jews.

truthfully, i think of we've a frustrating time with this question because of the fact we've not got any physique of reference.there is no different faith that began because of the fact the descendants of one kinfolk. there is no different kinfolk (so some distance as i understand) which could hint it incredibly is roots back 4000 years. there is no different those that lost their native land and have been unfold international, adapting to and adopting the distinctive custom of their international places, yet yet keeping it incredibly is unique id . there's no longer different united states that helps conversion. So right here is what we do understand: a million) Judaism is a faith. G-d gave the Torah to the Jewish human beings 3320 years in the past and that Torah is the commencing place of all issues Jewish. 2) Judaism isn't an ethnicity. There are Jews of each and every shade and race. 3) maximum Jews are descended from one kinfolk (That of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) 4) Judaism has consistently conventional converts who extremely desire to serve G-d as Jews. 5) Jewish isn't a nationality, yet maximum Jews experience a connection to our historic native land. 6) there is distinctive analyze on the "Jewish DNA" and that i do no longer understand lots approximately it. mutually because it incredibly is been watered down for hundreds of years, there are apparently some very stable connections.

Most Israelis are Jews. That's a fact.

If you are Jewish you can get an Israeli passport. That is also a fact.

Israel is a Jewish state. There is little doubt about it.

Jewish is also an ethnicity.

Edit: Just like all Jews are not Israelis. However, I know plenty of ethnic Jews who don't practice the religion here in the US.

because a lot of the time where you were raised has alot to do with what religious path you follow. and i disagree with Judaism not being a ethnicity. my family is from Israel and Germany and they are Jewish by race, they are dark complected and have been Jewish as far back as you can track.

The Jewish religion is so intertwined with its culture that it is commonly accepted for one to claim "Jewish" as one's ethnicity.

It is typical to group a geographical area with religious beliefs, not right I know but it is the way it is.

for example if you live in Libya you are probably Muslim (not necessarily true I know because I lived there for two years but it is the majority).
