Troy was once a very prosperous city the Trojan War was real that was a war that supposedly wiped out the Trojan people (ever hear the story about the Trojan Horse? sort of rings in with the don't take things from strangers story) as for Achilles he could have been a real man but its extremely likely that the story has been exagerated out of all proportion.

Troy did exist and it did fall, but, although there is some historical truth, the stories about the Trojan War should be regarded as mostly fictional.
