If I have SOLE LEGAL CUSTODY of my children, am I "required" to give the other parent an Itinerary of where we will be? He has very limited visitation rights

If you have sole legal and physical custody, then I don't think so. Just remember that in the future, if he takes them somewhere he will do the same to you. It always looks better for you if you keep him informed, especially if he is asking. He may be setting you up and may be keeping a journal of your difficult behavior, so he can get joint legal custody. Prepare yourself to explain everything you do in court and do not do anything that you feel is in the best interest of your children, because they are his children too and a judge will look down on you. Be cooperative, so you can keep the sole legal custody because it could change if you abuse it and refuse to give him important information.

You have the right to protect your children if you feel they are in immediate physical danger. Call the police inform them you are coming to pick your kids up after your daughter was injured. Tell them you want them to do a welfare check ASAP as your kids are crying they want to come home. Make sure you bring all the paper work with you that shows you have sole legal custody. Once there make sure you get all the info form the ER also. He cannot refuse you contact with your children. If anything holds it up you can go to court and get an temporary emergency order to remove children from his home due to this accident. Make sure when you get your kids that the police are there as well.

Only an attorney in your state can fully answer this question. You should review your divorce judgment carefully. If the vacation will interfere with visitation than you have to let him know. If you are leaving the state/country you also probably have to let him know. Other than that probably just a general idea of when you are leaving, when you will be back and where you are going (unless there are protective orders in place.)

You are not required to give him an itinerary but it would be good family relations if you did. You are required to have a letter of permission from him if you are taking the kids out of the country.

I think it is alright to tell him and overview of vacation. Itinary is not a neccessity.
As a parent he is also concern for the kid.
Put yourself in his position, I am sure the least you would like to know is where is the vacation so that in case of any emergencies he will know where to get hold of you guys.

What ever on paper is ONLY on paper. We cannot let the paper rule our lifes..

take care.

This should be spelled out in your custody papers. It is different in every case.

My husband has joint custody & they are to notify the other parent 30 days in advance of any travel out of state.

No the only thing you're required to give is your address and phone number. He has no right to tell where you can go or what to do.

Are you planning on going out of state?

If you are it might be a good idea to file something so that he can't try to turn around and say you are kidnapping the kids.

This way you are covered.

no not if you have full custody of the kids. you should tell him that your taking them on vacation but you don't have to tell him all the details. have fun on your vacation :)

NO, he is not entitled to anything BUT visitation, and no rights to anything else but that.

some people dont understand what full/sole custody means (look up all types of custody on "find law" if you dont), but what it means is you are stripped of all rights, except visitation.

thats it.

in cases like that, there are good reasons why full/sole custody are ordered.
