... in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?

Recognize this from TV? Or an unfortunate brush with the law?

Yep - ACLU again in the decision Miranda v. Arizona. The Court held that criminal suspects must be informed of their right to consult with an attorney and of their right against self-incrimination prior to questioning by police. It keeps the police honest. Today they are called the Miranda rights.

The ACLU is about as patriotic as you can get. The ungrateful snots in this country need to be educated on how much the ACLU has done for them. Thank you for yet another example. And thank you to the ACLU for protecting my civil liberties.

that's meant to help you understand that something you're saying, no count how beside the point it could look to you, may well be used against you in trial. Its extra reaffirming the 1st section which you're able to easily proceed to be silent. Say you do love pizza, and an proprietor of a pizza shop exhibits up lifeless and you get arrested for something close by. asserting you like pizza ideas them off which you will have some distant connection to the different crime that could be worth pursuing. ordinary, no you will ever talk till they have had time to take up what has surpassed off.

Actually, they don't tend to get guilty offenders off that much. Miranda was re-tried without the confession or the other information it contained, and still got convicted, and died in prison.

Yup, named for a guy who war arrested what? 47 times?

I have to ask, what idiot doesn't know that he has the right to keep his mouth shut when being questioned but then I think 'Lib" and it all makes sense.

What are you going to tell us about next, their courageous fight to have the 10 Commandments removed from an Alabama Courthouse? I understand that one two. the ACLU wouldn't want anything to do with anything that said Thou Shalt Not Lie, Thou Shalt Not Steal and Thou Shalt not Covet. That would put their dumb butts out of business.
