Yes, I knew that, but the treehuggers who oppose drilling for it hate America so much they want us to be held hostage by the islamofascists who want to kill us all.

yep i say we kick out the caribou and eskimos, drill a big hole, and suck it dry. no, i'm not kidding. really. no, i will not have compassion for the poor caribou; they can come on a cheap road trip to Cancun with me sometime if they let us drill their land (who wants to live in the Alaskan wilderness anyways?). and while we're at it, let's put some more rig's out in the gulf of mexico there's lots there too. no, i do not care about the environment. if the icecaps really are melting that menas i might have some beachfront property in a few years. no, i am not being sarcastic. no, really i mean every word. yes, i do believe in the toothfairy.

Are you sure? I've heard the opposite actually, that there is very little oil in Alaska and that mining for it would have a very limited impact on our oil needs.

Do you have any figures or facts to support this? Independent websites of research firms?

I find that statistic hard to believe. The U.S. consumes approximately 20,000,000 barrels of oil a day. Our reserves are approx 22.5 billion barrels. Do the math and 200 years @ 20 mil barrels a day doesn't add up.

In 200 years there will be a whole lot of people wonder how stupid our society must be to have wasted one the greatest natural lubricants on mere fuel for people to drive down to the corner supermarket to buy gum.

That would not surprise me. Unfortunately the ecological strangle hold on our congress will never allow us to prove that and exploit it for the good of our nation. We are so far behind now that even if we had the government permission to explore that area, we would still be 10 years away from being able to do anything with it.

Great, we can use that as we transition to alternative fuels, and tell the Arabs where to stuff their oil fast. Encourage others to tell them to stuff it too.
