I did sterilize mine and got nervous about it and thought maybe I shouldn't have done it. So, I called Medela and they said that it wouldn't hurt. I used mine for months afterward and it works fine. It will look a little different afterwards though. Dry it by hooking it up to the pump but not to the bottles and turn the pump on and it'll suck the air out.

Uuugh, that stuff is terrible to dry. What I did was get the medela microwave sterilizing bag, they are like $5 for 5. You will find medela replacement parts are way overpriced too. But the bags are super handy. Now the problem with those tubes, is they are hard to get dry. I use to hang them from a curtain rod in a sunny window, and they still never seemed to get all the moisture out. Or I would also turn on the pump, with them attached, but not the attachments, and let that air dry them.
Also with my preemie, I had to exclusively pump before he latched, the best investment I ever made was spending $20 on a second set of attachments, so I didnt have to sterilize after ever pumping, and could do two at once. This was also handy when I went back to work.

If this is a new pump, then the tubing will be fine.
If this is a used pump, then I recommend you buy the Medela steam bags that you can put in the microwave. They work great.
As for "drying" it, the best way it to let them hang like wet laundry over night so the air can circulate, then hook them up to the pump for a few mins to pull out any residual moisture.
Also, occasionally lay the tubes against white paper or hold up to bright light and look for any discoloration or dark spotting. This could indicate mildew/mold growing on the insides of the tubes and you will want to replace them.

The tube never comes in contact with the milk so sterilization is not necessary. You can rinse it with soap and water if you are concerned about residue or dust and just hang it up it will dry eventually.
DO NOT boil or microwave the tubing. It says not to. Heating certain plastics causes them to start to break down.

Yes, you need to sterilize all parts before and after every use, including the first time. If you sterilize it by boiling, the water will be hot enough that the parts will air dry, lay them out on a clean counter or towel. If you use a steam sterilizer, it will dry in the sterilizer...
