Liberals think it makes sense to provide freedom for some by enslaving others in the form of confiscatory taxes.

Conservatives think it makes sense to call a system which confiscates income to pay for the enforcement of laws against personal choices "freedom", and a government large enough to accomplish this "small and unintrusive".

I'm a Libertarian. I'm for Freedom. For all people, on all issues, at all times.

I am a conservative. Here are some of the basic conservative principles:

1. Strong National Defense
Defend the United States against enemies foreign and domestic. This means that if a country threatens us, we use force to defend this country.

Defend the United States’ borders against unlawful invasions.

2. Small Government
The government’s primary purpose is to defend this country. Being involved in every aspect of our lives is way outside its scope.
3. Low Taxes is the Most Effective Way to Spur Economic Growth and Prosperity.
Cutting Taxes pumps money back into the economic system and thus increases tax revenue.
Government cannot create wealth, only take it or attempt to redistribute it.
4. Personal Responsibility
Individuals must rely on themselves to address their issues in their personal lives. Government is not a solution, only something that complicates problems.
If a person wishes to acquire more in life, they must earn it, not wait for nor expect the government to provide it to them.

5. Free Markets and Capitalism are the Cure to Most of Societal Problems.
While some regulation is necessary, most of it stifles economic progress and growth.
The solution to a problem in the market place can be solved when individuals or companies have a profit motive to solve it.

Deregulation lowers costs and increases consumer choices.

6. Strong Family Values

Parents have a responsibility to their children until they become 18. The government must not usurp those responsibilities and rights.

Children are best served when their mom and dad are married and live together. Government should promote the sanctity of marriage.

7. Respect for the Environment, not Subservience to it.

Humans have been blessed with a tremendous Earth. We need to respect it by caring for nature: animals, water, land, and the like. Life leaves an impact on the world and there is little than can be done to stop it. Common sense environmental policy is good.

Government must ensure that natural resources are not recklessly over used, as well as new resources created. All life consumes resources and if we need more power, we must make it.

Conservation is a great idea, but we must also understand that as economies grow, so does their need for energy and resources. We must create the resources to address this.

8. The Constitution is a Literal Document, not a Living One.

Judicial activism on both ends of the political spectrum is not acceptable. Too often judges insert their own opinions that overrule the Constitution. Foreign law is not relevant to the American Judicial System, unless the legislature says so. If we as a society continue to allow judges to make new law, we lose representation in the legislature.

9. The Right to Private Property Must Be Respected in a Free Society.

In a free society, a person must have the right to have private property and keep the government from arbitrarily seizing it. A person must run their business as they see fit. Government may intercede, but not in the way they currently do.

A person’s wealth is their own property and the government does not have the right to continually seize it.

Quite honestly liberals believe the opposite of this.

People here are just going to try and advertise their views and it usually degrades into the usual extremists on both sides. Yahoo Answers isn't a democracy people! Its a dictatorship! Yahoo owns all your answers! Luckily there are people with some sense that try to provide a balanced view.

In a broad view, liberalism advocates freedom of thought, free-exchange of ideas, a free-market economy, less government control (though thats somewhat different between the different schools of liberalism) and a transparent system of gov't where all the rights of citizens are protected.

Conservatism can be broadly defined as favoring traditional values, whether it is religion or culture. In fiscal conservatism, it advocates prudence and caution in government spending. The term basically defines itself.

Personally, I'm in the middle. Yes I like having welfare and no lead in my water, but I like tradition. It makes us unique. Since I don't live in the US, I'm not a democrat, republican or independent, so hooray for me.

Conservative or liberal, what does it matter, that is just a label and a point of seperation.
Be an American and stand for Freedom, after all it was the whole idea behind declaring independance and writing the constitution.
Americans, all of us, need to unite and work toward solving the issues that will be important to our children and grand children after we are dead and buried.
Global warming, world nuclear proliferation, nuclear waste, over population, starvation, war.

Wish had nice simple black and white answer for your question; like one genius on radio most days. Conservatives tend to support the status Que. Liberals tend to be more free thinkers and open to change.

There is a huge difference!

Conservatives- very right wing, support the war in Iraq and funding it, push for Christian morals and values in this country even though not all people are Christian, do not want to give women a choice of whether to have a baby or not, do not suppot giving a rights of a married couple to gays even though they should have rights, do not support stem cell research to cure diseases and save millions of lives, support drilling into alaska for oil which kills animals

Liberals- everything opposite of what I said about conservatives

Obviously I am a liberal

A person is walking down the street and they see a beautiful mansion on a hill.

A conservative will say "if they work hard enough, everyone should be able to live like that".

A liberal will say "nobody should be able to live like that unless everyone can live like that".

I am a conservative.

I would have to agree with Impeach Pelosi. Conservative ideology is more "right and wrong" as they see it, the Liberal take on things is more "warm and fuzzy" as they see each situation. Warm and fuzzy means that you can change your mind if you don't like the outcome. Right and wrong kind of speaks for itself.

Conservative Independent.

Conservatives use black and white logic to make decisions, Liberals use emotions to make decisions.
