I really found grindhouse to be a moronic film that was soooooo desperate to be original it was just lame. I mean a girl with a machine gun leg. Why is that cool? Its weird , but that doesnt automaticly make it cool. Then they use the fact that everything looks like it was fake as a gimic saying its an "omage" to old film styles. I dont go around trying to sell anyone the original xbox as an "omage" to how kick butt the 360 is. I mean they pretty much just come out and say this film has no worthwhile plot or anything of the sort its just killing. Anyone else this that thats lame? I mean unless its creative (not weird I remember when people could see the difference) just mindless killing really doesnt interest me. I mean in kung fu movies the movement and the action is very original and artistic where as this is just mindless stupid crap. They were trying to mimic crappy movies when they though of that you know. Who else thinks that this movie is just a waste of time.

To the Quinton Tarintino supporters:
Your not getting what Im saying. I know its an omage to old movies but jesus it looks stupid as hell. I can appriciate a good action scene as much as the next guy and by no means do I give a crap about mainstream movies (I mainly stick to kung fu movies) but its just that I really dont see what anyone could possibly see in it. I mean all it does is something different. Now that would be good if the the different thing wasnt lame or anything but it was and its just a bad movie idea. I cant stand this crappy movie being in existance I never hear the end of it (I watch AOTS) and from what I've seen everyone loves it there, thank god normal people see this movie isnt cool, or a cute omage or anything but just a retarded mutated mass of crap.

To the last poster:
Your confusing me you say you like creativity but this film seems to go out of its way to be bland and boring. I really didnt think the action was very impressive either. But honestly I never really liked quinton in the first place. Its just so lame and overglorified. I mean come on kill bill what in the hell made that cool? the fact that it had a boring plot mediocre action and bad bad bad music

I saw it this past weekend and loved it.

If there's one thing that Rodriguez and Tarantino know how to do, its make violence look cool as hell. The point wasnt to make it with a huge plot; it was going more for the jugular and the shock factor, as evidenced by the huge amounts of gore/blood. Of course, everyone has their own tastes in movies, and these directors wanted to make the most flat-out violent, bloody movie reminiscent of the B-horror films of the 70s and 80s. Thats also why the films have the "aged" look to it. Overall I think its a great movie but DEFINITELY not for anyone with a weak stomach or those wanting an award-winning storyline.

(btw, its "homage")

I like both directors and expect the unusual from both of them. The movie does sound a bit weird but as a local reviewer put it, "it is a homage to the double feature B films of the 70's that both directors grew-up with."

Clearly you never had the "Drive-In Theater" experience before with the crappy film print, the comercials for the concession stand and the fun of just hanging out with your friends or preferably your date. That was the goal of "The Grindhouse;" to remind us of the fun of just going to the movies.

This movie reaches back to a point in time where people didn't go to the movies to see things that made sense, they just went to see stuff that looked cool. It was supposed to be mindless. It doesn't matter if there's a worthwhile plot or not, if you didn't appreciate it for the simplistic experience it's SUPPOSED to be, then you didn't get the joke. They're basically trying to tell people to lighten up when they go see movies.

It'a a shame you didn't like it, but I did. I found the films to be super fun. And yes, they are an homage to the types of films that Tarantino and Rodriguez loved as kids. What's wrong with that? They weren't trying to reinvent the wheel, just make the types of movies that they loved.

But, I'm not surprised it didn't too well. It's a long film, and not exactly mainstream. But, whatever. I loved it, and can't wait to own it on dvd. If it's not your cup of tea, then so be it. Nothing wrong with that. I'm not a huge Ice Cube fan, so I have no desire to see Are We Done Yet? But I'm not gonna rag on those that did. I hope they enjoyed it.

I haven't seen it yet but I will..soon. I love Tarantino movies, love 'em, love 'em. I guess I'll make up my mind about this movie after I see it. Original, maybe not, but you would be hard pressed today to find a good movie that hasn't borrowed some style or content from movies, in the same genre, that came before it. I just like the way he takes things and puts his own spin on it.

I love Quentin's movies but I haven't seen this one and it doesn't look so great from the commercials anyway but I sure do wish it would have beaten that crap blades of glory. Movies are getting cornier and more brain-dead....

I miss creativity. That's why I love Donnie darko, cube or the saw series.

I love movies that make you ponder......

Yeah, it looked seriously retarded. Then again, almost of all of Tarantino's films are. Hopefully this film's failure will send a message to Hollywood to stop producing idiotic, mindless brain-candy and to start making some decent films.
