I can drive one. Sometimes they're fun and sometimes a nuisance, but they do get better mileage.

I learned when I was a teenager it was a requirement to know how in case of emergency where I ever had to drive a stick. I have also owned a stick before but I hated driving the stick on hills like in downtown Seattle or in rush hour traffic you constantly have to shift they are a pain in the butt.

I learned when I was 15 and my first car was a stick shift. I burned the clutch out within 6 months...but I know what I'm doing now.

My dad taught me at age 12 or 13...use to be we could get our learners permit at age 14 (1970s) Dad said it was best to learn a stick shift first...his reasoning was that if I could handle that I could drive about anything...he was right.

If I had to, I could do it, but it would be really, really hard on the transmission. I don't like to deal with shifting, to be honest. We multi-task enough while driving as it is. I know what you're saying about the fuel efficiency thing though.
