Who's the poet and what is the title of the poem? Those two will really help to decode the meaning of the poem. I think that this poem deals with the issue of people of color (all colors). "Roy of the Prism" is an allusion to the acronym Roy G. Biv. Roy G. Biv is a made-up name in which all the letters of the name stand for a color in the rainbow. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. When one shines a light on a prism, the light is separated into all the colors of the rainbow. So the only people that can see Roy are the ones that shine a light on the prism. It looks like the poem is saying that it is difficult to see color when other colors cover it up. However, you see a PERSON (and not merely their color) full of beautiful colors when you shine some light on them.

it sounds more like a riddle actually. Perhaps it's an allusion to the rainbow? Roygbiv is an acronym for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. When you hold a prism to the light it splits the white into the colors of the rainbow. So perhaps "Roy of the prism" is the Red Orange and Yellow?

the poem is interesting. If its what I think it is it is an ironic comment on racism. The last line says hey, has anyone seen a guy who is multicolored and doesn't discriminate agasint others? (A prism has equal sides and refracts light into the rainbow). Answer is No - he's a kind of myth. noones seen him. If he did exist he would be a king (Roy means king).

I do not know about the first two lines. But Roy of the Prism sounds like they are talking about ROY G BIV. The seven colors shown through most prisms is (R)ed, (O)range, (Y)ellow, (G)reen, (B)lue, (I)ndigo, (V)iolet

Sorry. It makes little sense to me. Who wrote it and where was the poem published? Is it a translation from another language??
