It is important to learn self-discipline early in life. It is a tool that you can use throughout your entire life. Perhaps you are playing on a softball team. If you are not disciplined, like not listening to your coach, late for practice, not in uniform, then youtake from the entire team. You could cause others to lose their focus and not do as well on the field. In the classroom, it is the same. Whether young or old, the classroom setting is a learning community. Everyone in the community must be focused and aimed towards meeting the goals. When one person disrupts others, it takes from their future and the future of others. Think of how much students could learn if everyone was on track, helping each other, and moving forward. There's no telling where all that knowledge could lead each person in that classroom.

School needs to be a place of learning.
All kids learn better in quiet and well-mannered environments.
2 reasons to have the quiet: Teacher can rememebr her stuff and kids can attend to the teacher better.
Sooo, now you know.
Oh, yes, and there is the concept that if you are the disruptive one, you are cheating someone else of the quiet THEY need to learn, therefore it is like 'stealing' their learning time.
Thank You.
