No it's not out of copyright so you won't find a "free" ebook of it. (The book was first published in 1951 and not out of copyright for 95 years after creation).
You can buy a copy for next to nothing though - 3 dollars from alibris.com

Yes, I think it is. In fact I think Amazon is doing a 'Value-Pack', which is handy, and saves lots of time wandering around looking for stuff individually.
The 'Catcher in Rye' package includes the weapon of your choice ( four options ) and a jaded and corrupt ex,or serving senior politician, who will be delivered by their own security detail at a preset time and place. For a little extra they can lay on half a dozen TV news crews to film the event.
