i'm thinking of painting my nails. what colors would be good, and what designs?

I really like white nail polish. It looks very clean and sophisticated, and it is very "in" with all of the celebrities. I suggest that you find a kind with no extras, like gloss. I use "Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear". It is number 02, and it is called white on. It looks really good. If you use this kind, paint one coat and wait at least 30 minutes for it to dry. Then, paint on another coat and wait at least another 30 minutes. Afterwards, paint on a top clear coat.
If you don't want to go with white nail polish, you might want to consider a french manicure. Those are very nice. You can get different kits at any drug store.
Other colors are nice, and I suggest a light pink if you want to go with color.
As for the designs, I think your best bet is to go with a solid color or a french manicure. It makes it look simple and sophisticated.

Black nail polish with designs(flowers?) painted on in contrasting colours like white.

I love OPI polish, it lasts longer than others I have tried. I would go for either a bright red on a short, filed down nail, or a pearlescent pink.

hmm, i don`t know...i usually get pretty creative with mine, because i like something that`s unique...this week, my nails on one hand are hot pink with black stars & on the other hand, black with hot pink stars...wear something that matches your favorite clothing shades, or is your favorite color, or something totally different that you`ve never tried!!! wear whatever u want to express yourself!!!
