Ok- I don't know how to write the formula on computer but it's basically SIN(thata-bata) those greek things whatever their called so I'll just put SIN(T-B) .... One looks like an infinity sign and the other looks like a b

Use the formula sin(t-b) to find the light energy that falls on a square foot of ground in each city on Jun/22. Express your answer in terms of E, the energy from an overhead by subsituting directly into the expression Sin(113.5- p) - I just put p it's another one of those weird greek shapes...

The first thing that one can notice is that the date is quoted as June 22, which is summer solstice. At that time, the sun will be directly overhead at noon (solar time) anywhere on the tropic, which is 23.4 degree North. For every degree further north, the sun will thus be 1 degree lower, so the sun's ray will strike your reference square foot obliquely.
Now, on the tropic, your square foot is exactly perpendicular to the direction of the sun (again, at noon), i.e. 90 degree. It turns out that sin (90) is equal to 1, so you are actually getting 100% of the nominal energy. Move north 20 degree, and the square foot lying flat on the ground will be angled 70 degree (90-20) relative to the direction of the sun, and sin (70) is 0.93969.

Get it?

Just remember the axial tilt value of 23.4 degree, which has to be taken into account.

Oh slings and arrows of outrageous fortitude!
Firstly, this is NOT a math problem. It is an Ecological Science problem. (or Earth Science or Geoscience or )
Secondly, sin(Θ - ß) is not a formula,it is an expression....
E=mc² is a formula, aka (also known as) an equation.
Thirdly, substitution directly into an expression gets you at best a number, not an answer. You'll need to substitute into a formula to get an answer.

2+3 is an expression whose value is the same as 5 or 6-1
but if y= men + women and men = 2 and women = 3 then y=2+3 =5 but y is NOT equal to 6 - 1 !!! ponder that !!

Anyway. Once you reformulate your question try posting it under ecology, astronomy or civil engineering. All three disciplines are interested in sunlight and planetary temperature and energy. So is Agriculture, now that I think of it... What the heck you're talking about an Overhead for, I can hardly imagine. In my country, USA, an overhead is either a light (usually assumed fluorescent) or a projection of some graphic (although it could mean other things in contexts various).

You need the FORMULA that expresses the energy (either differential or intergral) as a function of the date and latitude. (assuming that the integration for a 24 hr day is included).

A formula is generally of the form

A=bc+d where A is blah blah in units of Kg M² per furlong
where b is blah blaaahh in units of yadda yadda
Where c is a constant with units of yadda bling
and where d is yadda yadda bang bang in units of blech.

In other words it is not just the symbols it is (also) the definitions of the symbols that give the equation meaning.

My best guess is that this deals with the angle of incidence of radiation from the sun. That angle depends on time of day, time of year and latitude. Your formula sin(113.5 - p) gives the suns' angle at latitude p at the date of summer solstice, (June 22, approx). This formula includes the sun's inclination with respect to the equator or 23.5º. The sin of that angle gives the "normal" component of that radiation, so in each case, the incident radiation at noon is E*sin(113.5 - lattitude).
