I got hooked on this show during a long period of insomnia. It is absolutely hilarious, especially Cat. I love his fangs. What is it that you love about this show?

I guess I love that it's a twisted buddy story that doesn't take its sci fi seriously. Even Kris Kochanski turned out to be fun, and Kryten is alway hilarious. I just have no explanation for why I always have a soft spot for Rimmer...the smee-hee. And to answer the question by Merilee - Holly decided (between seasons) to have a sex change, according to that scrolling backstory that ran at the beginning of the show (so quickly that you have to run it in slow motion if you want to read it); you know, the one that looks like the opening of Star Wars? But of course that was just a silly explanation for the change in actors.

everything. but Its not on pbs in the states anymore and the dvd collection is outrageously high IIcant aford it).
It was like Monty python meets star trek. I was hooked the first time I saw it. the robot cracked me and the Rimmer salute iam literally laughing out loud as I type. Great show, did they not make a movie? If so I havent seen it.

I love them all but Kryton is my favorite. They were showing it here but then the fund raising for PBS started and I haven't seen it since. I hate Saturday nights without my Red Dwarf.

My only question is why on the first season of the show there is a man who is on the computer screen and then we see Holly (a girl) on the screen.

Smeg Off!
It blended my two favorite forms of entrtainment, comedy and Sci-fi. They also didn't take themselves too seriously (see all the "Easter Eggs" in the backwards episode).
