I went into the store today and got me a 20oz. Pepsi, walking up to the counter I see 2 liters onsale for 89 cents. Am I missing something,,,1/5th the size and I'm paying $1.29. I went back to the cooler and got me a cold 2 liter and drank out of it. Am I paying for convinience or am I being robbed?
I'm sure this isn't the only thing like that. How can they get away with price gouging?

You answered your own question: ". . .paying for convenience. . .being robbed". That about sums it up. The same applies to half & half for my coffee: One quart sells for $2.99, but the pint costs $1.99. It really ticks me off when they are out of quarts and I have to spring for the pint. They'll get away with it as long as people continue to pay.

It also depends on where you shop. At a convenience store, the 20-ounce bottles are almost always going to be more than the 2-liters there. The 20-ounce is likely going to be chilled, so the store has to spend money on refrigeration for your drink to be cool. Furthermore, the individual 12 to 20 ounce drinks in general sell more units in a convenience store as a principle of...well, convenience. And most convenience stores will run specials on 2-liters, 12-packs, etc. just to get some additional traffic into the store as well as the fact that they are contractually obligated to do so by Coke, Pepsi, etc. (a minimum order per shipment, if you will). You might find individual 20-ouncers a bit cheaper in supermarkets, but those guys do a volume business anyway. And like I said earlier, it also depends on where you shop.

yes, the 20-oz. is more expensive because the stores figure that u are going to pay it anyways instead of lugging around a 2 liter bottle to drink out of!!!

Supply & demand. More people want the 20oz. because of convenience of size. It is more user friendly, easier to use in vehicle, etc.
