I've gotten addicted to those sudoku puzzles, so I keep a book of them in my purse for something to do while standing in checkout lines. Maybe puzzles of some sort would interest you. You might try a new hobby like tatting or crochet. Or netting or finger weaving. There's information online that can get you started on these. Sometimes just looking for various crafting information is fascinating. Perhaps calligraphy or illumination would interest you (and they don't take a lot of expensive equipment to get started). You can make fancy little plaques or maybe bookmarks for Christmas gifts in your spare time. How about ribbon flowers or ribbon embroidery? Or perhaps paper flowers (folks at the hospital can always use a neat little bouquet to brighten their rooms - and you don't even have to know who is in the hospital, just send some flowers over to have the volunteers distribute - you might check with the hospital first to see what their procedures are). Have you thought about volunteering at the library or with your local literacy council? Do you like scrapbooking or do you have a bunch of family photos that you could make slideshows of? (Once again - that makes a neat Christmas gift.) What about gardening - any interest there?
Probably, I'd start by searching the internet for hobby and craft "how to" sites and just go from there.

I have a tablet that I write things in so I don't forget them. One of the things I keep a list of is 'Things I need to make time for'. Some of those are around-the-house stuff, like cleaning out a desk drawer that is too full, or taking the time to go through all my clothes and get rid of stuff I'm not using. And yeah, these are 'work'. But, it is all in how you choose to look at it. If I'm bored, I look at my list and think, "Hmmm, I have 2 hours to kill...that's enough time to sort clothes". I look at it as I GET to do a thing I haven't had time for that will make me happy when I'm done. I also put things on the list I want to know more about (like maybe an actor in an old movie.) I write it down and the next time I'm online, I look at my list and remember I wanted to find info. Part of the problem with being bored is just not remembering the things you say you want to do from a few days ago. :>)

When you do these activities have a purpose in mind.

Example:
Sew or crochet layettes to donate to a local women's shelter. Check with your church for other items needed.

Collect aluminum pop tops from cans for the Ronald McDonald house in your area. (My 9 year old does this. She has all our relatives saving pop tops).

Read to senior citizens at the old folks home. The ladies like to have theirs nails painted too.

Have fun helping others!

Go to www.amazon.com and scan through all the different genres of music, test out each artist that pops out to you and find new music that way.

Take up photography

Make gift baskets for friends, a natural endorphin is released when you give gifts.

Check out blogs and google cross stitch, some great designers are: http://www.justnan.com , http://www.shepherdsbush.com http://www.thesweethearttree.com http://www.123stitch.com
