is a processor with a 2Mb casch THAT much better than one with 1Mb?

im looking to get a new laptop to replace me PC and im not really sure if a 1.7GHz 1Mb processor is better, worse, or about the same as a 1.6GHz with 2Mb

im not a hardcore gamer or anything, i mainly will be using the laptop for word-processing and occasionally playing games like Warcraft, which doesn't take much power at all.

The more L2 Cache a CPU has the faster it runs.

In your example the 1.6 will perform better.
