i've been on the pill since i was 12, because i have cysts on my ovaries that cause me painful and heavy periods..i've been on 3 different pills so far and one that i was happy on recently was aggravating my depression beause it was too high dosage (ovcon 25), so my gyn went the opposite direction and put me on loestrin..my first month was decent, no first month on a new pill is ever great, but i just finished my second month, started the first week of my third month this sunday, and my period still hasn't stopped. my cramps are in full force, even through a vicodin and a heating pad, and i'm still bleeding heavily. should i call my gyn tomorrow if it hasn't stopped by then? has anyone else had this problem with loestrin? i'm not worried really, i'm just in a lot of pain.

I think your body just needs to adjust to the difference in hormones, since there is such a big difference is the dosage. The cysts may have something to do with it, wether one is growing or possibly rupturing (which I have been through both) which can cause more bleeding. A heating pad is supposed to help with the pain, but I have been told that it also causes you to bleed more. (Either be in less pain and bleed more, or vice versa pretty much....) If you keep bleeding heavily for more than 7 days and/or spike a fever I would definately call the doctor and tell them what's going on. Especially with your history of cysts, you don't want to wait until it is too late. I am sorry for your pain, I have the same problem with the cysts, so I feel for you. Hello dear I am sorry your having such a hard time, I too am on Loestrin just started in February because of fibroid tumors.. maybe if it is at all possible you should just go on and have those cysts removed..I am so very sorry your going through this but trust me I do understand... my periods are terrible as well lasting as long as 4 months..but this Loestrin for the time being has been a life saver..you should definitely make an appointment to see your doctor and come up with a different and better solution..ya know because no 2 folks are alike...Good luck!

In fall 2008, I moved in with my boyfriend of 2 years, and we were having unprotected sex. It was the first time I ever had unprotected sex with someone. After I started living with him, I missed 3 periods! I was terrified!!! I took test, after test, after test, but I was thinking they were bad because my boyfriend kept buying really cheap tests. So, I went to my doctor, she checked everything down there, and it was fine. Then they took some blood, made me pee in a cup, and gave me the pregnancy test. I wasn't pregnant. That medicine just makes your period so light, and it can make it disappear...? I don't think you are pregnant.
