While neither is the ideal president I'd probably choose Carter.

Although Carter had the hostage crisis to deal with, and his economic policy left much to be desired (run-away inflation, etc), he did actually do a few things that were very good such as establishing a national energy policy, expansion of the national park system, created the Department of Education, struck the Camp David agreement of 1978, which got Israel and Egypt to sit and talk, and completed negotiation of the SALT II nuclear limitation treaty with the Soviet Union. He was an honorable man with good intentions even though he had a few major blunders.

Dubya, on the other, hand has done nothing but lie since the get-go. And what good things has he done? He came up with the Do Not Call Registry, I'll give him that. Otherwise, he's been f_ckin' useless! I mean invading Afghanistan to find Osama was a good idea but then, like a kid with ADHD, Chimpy left the job at half-time and instead embarked on a misguided romp into a country that had NO WMDs, NO ties to Osama, and NO part in the 9/11 attacks! Then, of course, there were his demands for more math and science teachers...right before he slashed several million bucks from the education budget. And his continual @$$ape of Mother Nature, his tax cuts for the rich, and his bungling of the Katrina relief and clean-up. His presidency is like some sort of sick, pathetic joke.

My own cause I wear a size that they probably dont.

Carter and OPEC was much easier to deal with because simply put the Crisis there was a moral response to a bad chess move made by the US. We allowed someone the Iranians hated to get medical support from our hospital's.

It's the equivalent of wondering why Cubans would riot in Florida if we allowed Castro to fly in and get the BEST medical care in the world from one of our prestigious top hospitals. So thats more like they hated what we did not "us" per say.

Whereas in Iraq we have done something percievably good and have managed to overstay to the point where they, are using this as a sign that those Iraqis' whom are with us are "ours".

And so we have tons of fighting and have gotten caught up in the middle of just an all out fight for power. The bottom line is here is a scene of extreme chaos. There is no demands but one... "leave" and if im Bush and I believe staying will help then im screwed!

Probably Carter, since you know....he didn't have the rest of the world against him. Oh no wait...you forgot Poland! But yeah, the OPEC crisis could be handled through diplomatic means which is okay. Bush however, doesn't really grasp diplomacy, he just prefers to let cruise missiles and carpet bombing do the talking.

The evangicals elected Carter as President, a job he was drastically unqualified for. He was a terrible President and still has no idea what he is doing. I imagine his ratings are lower now.

Bush is dealing with Iraq and we just don;'t know yet how this will be seen in history or how it will benefit the U.S. so I will withhold judgement at this point.

I would rather be Bush. He has the courage of his convictions and will leave office and resume his civilian life. Carter will spend the rest of his life trying to make his mark on the world and to date, has failed miserably.

Some people just cannot move on and that is pathetic.

Carter could sleep at night. I honestly dont know why he got trashed so badly by history. Its becoming clear that nuclear power is a good idea he was just ahead of his time. Its also clear since the hostage crisis ended immediately after Reagan was elected and the Iran Contra affair was finally uncovered that there was something seriously fishy about that whole deal.
Bush is unpopular because of the War without end basically an occupation. Alot of dead Americans on his watch, we are torturers under this administration.

President Bush. Even if the war in Iraq does not work as intended I would much rather go down fighting than surrender without a shot like the feckless President Carter.

When OPEC had us in a strangle hold this man actually would appear on TV from the White House with a sweater on and tell us to turn down our thermostats. He was bullied, insulted and humiliated by the Soviet Union and Iran and just took it. We had high unemployment and run away inflation. In fact, every night on the evening news we had a misery index number reported.

Carter definitely. If not for the criminal Reagan violating the Logan Act and negotiating with terrorists, the hostages would have come home under Carter and history would be much kinder to him.

As long as our troops are still in the field, it is not a FAILED war. If we bring them home without making sure that a free Iraq is strong, stable, and secure, then WE -- the United States of America -- will have a failed war.

However, in answer to your question, I'd still choose Bush over Carter.

BUSH. Carter is the whole reason Reagan was voted in. Thank God. I guess Carter did serve a good purpose, besides building houses.
