Don Imus has been relieved of his airtime for his inappropriate remarks. To me it's well deserved. He'll next probably have a tuff time booking guests, etc. That's happened behind the scenes elsewhere. Due to hard work and allitle light shown it's at an end.
He's got seasoned chops and do you think America is ready to forgive him once he gets back?

I personally don't think he did anything wrong, so I don't need to forgive him for anything. Would he have gotten suspended if he said "all blondes are dumb" or "all irish people are drunks" - I don't think so. But of course you have to watch what you say about african americans.

Plus Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson need something to do - it's been quiet for them lately.

The problem is that someone like him that's in the media has to refrain from sounding judgemental or offensive because were are in an era that is more strict when it comes to political correctness. He didn't have this skill apparently.

How many times have you heard someone throw around the term white trash, or low-life or old hag, or dork. These terms are offensive too. The problem is "nappy head" has a connotation with the "n" word is this scenario. Although I don't know why. Shawn Fanning (founder of Napster) is white and he got the nickname because he was called nappy head in college. However he's not a media presenter like Don Imus. White trash is a very offenseive term to some and so are the others I mentioned; the difference is people that aren't in the news media can say these things, those that are in the news media can't because it's not good broadcasting etiquette

Also, white people have had a very long history of disparaging, exploiting people regardless of their race(e.g. Jewish) and especially if the race is different from theirs. It's interesting how we almost never hear of the atrocities involved between white people and the Indian population of the U.S.A. in the 19th century, so the double standard shock is to be expected in this day and age when something like this happens with Don Imus or whoever it may be that's in the public eye

He might as well have said, "Nappy headed (n-word in plural form)"

Oh for heaven's sake, do you really think this little slap on the wrist is going to make the least difference to the I-man or his corporate sponsors?

It's just going to get him more publicity for being a total jerk. Just the same way Ann Coulter's calling John Edwards a ****** a couple of weeks ago did her no harm whatsoever.

America forgive him? Look around you - most people on Yahoo are already screaming that America is just too PC about this whole thing, it's some sort of liberal idiocy, and the Rutgers Women's b-ball team - a group of 18-22 year old college students whose only crime is being the #2 women's team in the country - should just lighten up.

Don Imus has been and will always be a raciest in the old days when he worked with Howard stern he would not allow robin who is black, Howards sidekick to even talk to him and he called her the N word all the time This is a true story. This guy should be fired

From a fellow black person:
The double standard is wrong
It happens because white ppl have a looooong history of oppressing anyone and everyone including other white ppl they feel aren't good enough (ie jews and italians). The oppressed retaliate and bite back. Much like a dog that is beaten for years, takes it and then one day tries to tear the arm off of the person beating it.
Unfortunatley even tho slavery and Jim Crow laws are over, the dog still feels the sting of being beaten for years. Even now it still gets things thrown at it. So yeah, the dog bites back and says cracker, blue eyed devil and other racial slurs. I know you're thinking, how dare "they" call "us" racial slurs even tho most of our ancestors did on a daily, open, socially accepted, required and legal basis.

Please, my parents were dang near teens when segregation ended and they are only 49. So STOP talking as tho it ended forever ago. I'm sure MOST of you have grandparents who stood in protest lines with your parents when segregation ended.

His ratings will soar and he will be reveared. President Bush has made being an over racist acceptable again and so therefore all like minded people can come out of the closet.

On the contrary, he has his followers. And he will bounce back. Will the same happened if he was in Syrius Radio like Howard Stern? The jury of the country has spoken in all channels of television, even that punk Hasselbeck from the View.

i don't think of he could be fired. ok, he blew it and stated something galactically stupid, yet why isn't a truthful apology and suspension adequate? till somebody comes up with "Race Rehab" will not be able to human beings learn from the outcry to not make stupid comments like that? i think of there are some people who're going to overcome this horse for all they might because of the fact it is going to turn the cameras in the direction of them, and that's risky.

what a bunch of crap. Does anyone remember when Micheal Irving said that "Tony Romo must have some black in him"? when he came out and played good for Dallas? Of course not because a black person said it about a white person. It really amazes me how one sided this bull$#@& is. If your gonna be upset by what Imus said please pay attention in the future and make the same fuss when it happens to ANYONE regardless of their color. Please read the link. where is his suspension or even the public outcry for ANY punishment?
