What is a Manchurian Candidate? Is Manchurian Candidate supposed be used as a way to describe something or someone or is it actually a title?

The 'Manchurian Candidate' has become a name tag to describe a person who pretends to be free of enemy influences, while either known or unbeknown-st to him/her that person was trained early-on to obey, on command, those persons who prepared him/her for representation of the ideals the candidate is claiming to eschew/believe in...and even the candidate is not aware of the brain washed, hypnotic-like state to which they are beholding -- like a time-bomb -- ready to do what the trainers have planned for him/her when the trainers tell him at the trainers' chosen time.
Some have said that Barach Obama could be such a candidate. His early Muslim training lends credence to that possibility.
Of course, it could be any person, seeming to be perfect for any position in which havoc could prevail at the hand of trainers bent on destroying America, our Government, or the way of life we all take for granted.

I know that in the book the Manchurian Candidate was brainwashed into becoming an assassin for the Communist Party. I would assume the term would now mean any candidate who is brainwashed by his party.

Manchurian Candidate was a bood, then a movie starring Lawrence Harvey and Frank Sinatra. Harvey and Sinatra were in the same platoon in Korea, were captured and brain washed. Harvey became an assassin who, when he saw the Queen of Hearts went into a trance and did what his handlers told him too. His handler happened to be his communist mother and step father (a senator). The senator was running for president and Harvey's mother used her son to kill the opposition. Hence, the manchurian candidate, his step father almost got the nomination of his party. In the end Harvey with Sinatra's help figured out what was going on and he assasinated his mother and step father at the primary convention instead of their opposition whom they had primed him to kill.

It was a book and also a movie years ago. A very good movie I think. There are things in it that may apply today regarding the so-called "Sleeper Cells"
In the MC they hypnotize people and send them back to their country with the knowledge that when a certain signal is given to them, they will go out and kill or destroy someone or something. In the meantime they live a very normal life.

Watch the first movie the main characters in the movie are brainwashed in Manchuria.Great movie much better than the one with Denzel.Which was pretty good as well.
