First I just wanted to say that no one has the same schedule of bowel movements. What I mean is that if you go every 2 days, then thats normal for you. If you haven't had a bowel movement in 6 days, it sounds like you are having some form of obstruction. You should try a laxative to relieve the bowel. If the problem becomes chronic, you would need to see a doctor, or maybe even try a stool softener, such as colace.

6 days is way to long. I would suggest some prune juice and an enema or a suppository. There may be some discomfort but do it quickly and get it over with. When I was pregnant I would get so constipated I would have to manually remove some poop in order to go, I got hemorrhoids too. You should go after each meal. It's not healthy to be that backed up. Drink lots of water and eat plenty of fruit and fiber, like oat meal and raisin Bran. If you need more info on how to remove manually let me know, I used to work in a hospital and when I first started they had me doing the most disgusting tasks. So I'm a pro at getting people to go...That is gross but true. Anyhow, I don't do that anymore..

You should be going 2 - 3 times a day. You might have parasites in your system. Try prune juice or some whole food drink. Example: Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness at WalMart.
Drink 8 (8oz.) glasses of water a day. At least 40oz. of water a day. Also add fiber (whole wheat bread, whole grain cereal, Benifiber) to your diet, it will help out a great deal. Mineral oil can also help with bowel movement problems. You might want to check out this website:

Try using s glycerin suppository. They can help or take stool softeners, they take longer though. Also you can try Milk of Magnesia but after you take it don't leave the house because it works really well and you don't get any stomach pain so it comes on fast and you need to be near the bathroom.

Eat prunes, popcorn, licorice (the real black kind), or actual dried fiber. You can get it at a bulk food store and it works miracles. Or, go to the doctor to get medical intervention. Then get more fiber into your diet. Fiber is in whole wheat, wheat and corn bran, flax seed lignans and vegetables such as carrots, celery, green beans and potato skins.

Try Citrucel (follow directions on container) and some fresh apple, both will help with constipation and gently.
Include fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet regularly.
Refined sugar is binding. Try to avoid over consumption of sweets containing refined sugar.

drink heaps of water and then eat 1 packet of prunes, or 2 kiwi fruit followed by a glass of metamucil. Its important that you do not strain or try and force yourself to go - or it will hurt - A brisk walk is also helpful.
