My husband lost his due to 24000 in back child support, he made arrangements with family services to pay half his earnings every week, with that they reinstated his license. And for all of those that say he should have not had his kids, why dont you find out who left who. Most of the time it is the woman that makes the choice to leave or kick the guy to the curb, then to satisfy herself she takes him for all he's worth, that's a good mom for ya dont you think. Throw him out and still expect him to pay for her. How many fathers know where the child support goes? How much is actually used on the kids? Have your friend make an arrangement to pay the back support, talk to the child support agency, they should be able to help him out a bit.

First of all, the states aren't concerned whether you are able to pay or not and if you live in a an area where commutting to and from work is a necessity why would one take his license. Well, the family courts are not courts of equitability, they are dedicated to the 24 Billion dollar a year child support industry. It is the largest business in the country. They keep divorced people broke and in the arrears and when the there are continued problems the courts will make mandatory psychiatric visits starting at 150 dollars and has to be paid by the individual. It is a racket and has nothing resembling intelligence, fairness, equality or "The best interest of the children". It is the single most vicious preditor in our system. They took my license just after starting a business to pay the support. I had been off of work for almost two years then the revoked my license and my business required me to drive to my customers. Wow, wonder who the brainchild was that dreamed up the sanctions to use as leverage. I am sure if you make arrangements they will reinstate your license until you get behind again then the cycle repeats and as long as you pay the system you can keep your privilege. No one will talk about why they use the leverage they do. I have talked to all of them. If they are part of the system they will give you no information. It is a monster that has grown out of greed and been made very profitable. There are men paying for children that are not even theirs. The sexism and bias against men in the family courts are worse than the kangaroo courts of the 18 century. Until the majority become tired of it and do something about the abuse the system will be out of control. The kicker is when they took my license I could no longer commute to get my kids for a visit. I have not seen my children for six months and guess what, no one cares! That is right, they do not care whether you see the kids or not, but will throw the best interest of the kids at you if you protest. Its a scam of the largest kind and violates the rights and freedoms of our constitution.

I'm not a social worker or a lawyer, but I've got 11 years of child support background!

The person who's license is suspended needs to contact the child support agency to make an appointment to discuss the case. The agency may start some legal action or they may just release the hold on the license when a payment plan has been agreed upon. If the person is late on their payments, their license will be suspended again. Here in California, if you are 30 days late, your license is automatically suspended.

You need to contact the courts here to see if some kind of payment arrangement can be worked out here, but dont be surprised if the courts arent sympathetic to you. The courts hear from guys like you who are behind in support payments, go to court to work out a deal only to renig on the deal in a few months. They suspended your licenseto force you to come forward because they know most guys wont come forward on their own, unfortunately, til something impacts their life. The Judge may only reinstate it once the arrearage is paid in full. This is the biggest complaint most men have in life and divorces-child support and how unfair it is,and the financial burden it puts on them. Good luck

Contact your local child support office and ask what the procedure is for reinstating the license. You may need to make a request for a court appointed lawyer. Taking the license is a last resort. You need to begin some sort of communication with CSU. You may want to request a modification of your payments. Make arrangements to do what you can and don't miss payments anymore.

When your arrearage reaches the point where yours has and a court order of suspension has been ordered, they are not going to make a payment plan with you. You had a manthly or weekly payment plan that you didnt comply with to get where you are now. So many men, Kids I should say never think about these consequences when they are having the sex that produced the child you have to pay for now. You will not drive again untill it is paid in full, at least in CT thats the way it is.

I believe child support laws vary from state to state.
Here in Arizona they suck. I have been dealing with the Dept of Child Support Enforcement for 13 yrs.
There is always a phone number on the statement you get you can call if you think you need to change something. You may need to go back to court, but I would advise to do this instead of skipping out on your payments.
I wish the state of Arizona would take matters more seriously.
If you couldnt afford to support your child, then you should of kept your pants zipped.

Each state is different. But here in michigan if you set up a payment plan then yes they will reinstate the license. But then again $4000 is alot so they might have to pay a good chunk of it then do the rest in paments. You really need to call Friend of the Court from your state.

Well, I can tell you like this. I hope this isn't your man, because if it is, you should be worried. If he won't pay for his own kids support, then if you guys have kids and break up you'll be added to the list.

That being said..usually they make the person pay in full, there is no payment plan. Just because he owes $4 grand his monthly payment is still adding up so he will still have to pay it all in full eventually.

Sorry, but his kids need food and shelter. He didn't just "get" $4,000 behind in child support. You know it. I know it. He made choices. Hard as we try today, eventually, we ARE responsibly for our choices. So, he's to blame for his problems. Besides, they don't just take a driver's license. They try just about everything, but when that doesn't work- that is, result in money- then they take the license. So, realistically, he knew he owed money, ignored attempts to collect it, and is now crying about how unfair it is.
