When you order diet drinks at restaurants, are you scared they didn't really give you diet? That worries me sometimes. That's why for the most part, I only get bottled water when I'm going out.

and, of course i do not think that you can tell the difference. and what if they mix the two together. i know you may think that's paranoid, but if a server will spit in your food, put pot in your food, you never know.

Simplest way out - don't order diet or tell them you have special dietary requirements. If you have sugar, you go into a spastic fit and throw things and smash things and pi*s on the table, so please ensure that you are not given regualr, only diet. I think they will give you strange looks but you'll get diet.

Its more convincing if someone with you confirms it and maybe says... "The last restaurant we went to he asked for diet soda and he got regular, cost them a fortune for new plates and tables and it took us 4 and half hours to get him off the ceiling! We had to wait for his sugar levels to drop so he'd come back down to earth.

There's an old Aussie saying:

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with Bullsh*t!

You know, oddly enough, i've consumed so much soda over the years that i can tell if i'm drinking diet or not. There's a slightly sweeter taste that i experience. However, i have to say that some of the diet drinks have sooo much acid/carbonation to them, that i can see why it'd be questionable. I love Diet Rite cola, but not too many establishments have that, which is a bummer.

yeah, if you can't taste the difference between diet and regular, than you might as well order water!
but honestly, the servers have more to worry about then sabotaging your diet with those extra calories sneakily served to you in your beverage glass....
...honestly, WHY would they even bother doing that?
sounds like you are a bit paranoid...maybe you did get POT in your food! :)

Diet Coke tastes completely different from regular Coke, so I can tell immediately if I got the right thing. As the previous poster indicated, most wait staff get you what you ordered.

Obviously there is a difference in taste and if you get the wrong drink you can always send it back. My mother is an insulin dependent diabetic and even if she gets the wrong drink sometimes, as long as she doesn't drink more than the first sip, she is fine.

Either way, even if you drink diet drinks, it is still bad for you. There are so many bad toxins and artificial things on those drinks, you wouldn't want to be drinking it. You should be drinking bottled water. It is healthier or drink red wine....
