I was planning to purchase my first electric guitar. I don't want it to be very expensive but I also don't plan on replacing it very soon. I'd like to have a few opinions on which type to buy.

go to nearest music store,tell them your budget,and try out several in your price range,and make your choice on what sounds good to you.You can always have it upgraded later with better pickups,tremelo,etc and probably done at the same store.
