No, they did not.

George W Bush got special permission to return from Vietnam because of special request from a "senator" (his father).
He never fought a war, he only had 500 hours of flight time.

Politics is not about Patriotism.. fight for your country crap... Noone is fighting for their country unless they are getting invaded (as Iraq is now).

We are the invaders.. unfortunately. Bush is the leader of this invasion.

No, they were/are CHEERLEADERS !! ;o)

and if you really want a soldier, you had better look to the presidential canidates, as far as I know, one is for sure, and possibly one other,,mccain, and Ron paul 08, I am not sure about Ron, but hes a patriot. Though some think hes somehow more of a neocon than romney ! He (romney)actually seemed OKAY until they checked into his background and said he never applied for a hunting license, but bragged about hunting all the time when he was younger. LOL, he says, with small game u dont need license. Now , people are wondering if its his ploy to try to make guns illegal. Hmph !! That is NEVER gonna happen in america without a whole lot of blood shed on ALL SIDES. If they aint figured that out,,they are just dumb. Not to mention the known fact that approval of citizenry having guns does DETER criminal acts ! Protects the innocents.
