I am 19 and have had my period for 6 years now. It is very irregular and i was wondering if this is normal. I know stress is a factor to consider but i am not stressed all the time. It has never been regular and I would like it to be. Might there be something wrong?

You've had your period for several years now and it should be at least somewhat regular. This is probably just a mild hormonal imbalance that can be very easily fixed by a low-dose birth control. See your doctor and discuss this option with him.

This is somewhat common, but not "normal". I'm the same way. I would get my periods very close together, they would be extremely heave and last for a week or so. I really urge you to see your doctor or gynocologist. Having irregular periods can lead to sever iron loss in your blood which can subequently result in anemia. Once you talk to your doctor you can decide on what to do. I take birth control, which I reccomend (it works great). It just regulates your period and makes it very predictable, which is very nice. So basically, go talk to a doctor and you'll get yourself all taken care of. Good luck.

Have you considered taking birth control as a way to regulate bleeding and keep a steady monthly cycle? It should be regular by now, but if not, check with your doctor and see if an oral contraceptive might be a good way to regulate bleeding.

Yes it is normal. Teenagers go through hormonal changes, and thats pretty much how it is. And stress can be a big factor, you should see your gyn. for reg pap smears annually.
Perhaps your dr. will put you on birth control to regulate your menstrual cycle.

I am 20 and my period was all over the place until I got on the pill last summer. There wasn't anything wrong with me, but you should go to the gynecologist to make sure.

Yes, there could be something wrong such as a hormone imbalance but the only way to find out for sure is to have this evaluated by your dr to see what could be going on.
