Somebody dropped Chien Ming Wang to waivers. Should I pick him up (the pitcher I would have to give up to get him is either Cole Hamels or Matt Cain). If I should claim him, who should I give up? Why?

No - he was dropped because he gets no K's. Hamels and Cain have nowhere to go but up, while Wang should come back to being a decent, but not star, pitcher. Sorry, but the Yankee mystique isn't worth squat in fantasy. Wang may give you equal W's to the other guys, maybe a slightly better ERA because the young guys will get hit hard now and then, but I take them in a heartbeat over Wang. Unless you are weak at SP (and if you would be dropping Hamels or Cain, I doubt that), there is no reason to grab a Wang. Enjoy that pun......

Cole Hamels and Matt Cain are up-and-coming power pitchers who could contend for the 200 K season with solid ERA and WHIP. Both are under 25 years of age and are the future elite pitchers to come, so I wouldn't drop either one of those two to get a former 19 game winner who relies on craftiness and his offense to pick up for him. Wang is not a favorable Head-to-Head or rotisserie league because he doesn't strike out pitchers that much but his ERA and WHIP are good. If you have a crappy pitcher or a crappy offensive player, then I suggest dropping them instead but Hamels and Cain are untouchable.

Dont drop either of the 2 guys you mention. Wang is good mostly for wins....both of these guys will come close to his win total and each will strikeout nearly 100 more batters than Wang and post similar ERA and WHIP numbers as well. Wang gets more press....Hamels and Cain will get you fantasy glory!

No you shouldn't. He is a good pitcher, but Cole Hamels and Matt Cain are better pitchers. If you want to pick him up then you should drop a crappy fielder.

Don't take Wang. First, he's injured. Second, with how little he strikes people out, he's bound to have a disappointing year and not a repeat of 19 wins. He might get 10 wins this year, and it'll be because of run support. The problem with his pitching style is batters make contact against him almost every at-bat. His WHIP and ERA are supposed to be out of control, so the only stat he would bring into play would be wins. Not worth it, AVOID HIM.

dont drop cole or matt, those are 2 young studs. wang sucks and is overrated. i cant believe how many people draft this guy. he gets little Ks and hitters make good contact against him. the only reason why he has 18 wins is because he plays for the yankees and has a great offense to back him up and besides wang is hurt. trust me, dont pick this guy up.
