It is a dirty word to most of them. In fact, most politicians in BOTH of the two main parties don't do nearly enough with regards to conservation and environmental protection...however, the Republicans are notoriously negligent. Giant corporate conglomerates and the almighty dollar comes first, after all! I mean who needs clean air, drinkable water, a healthy food supply, sustainable use of natural resources, and open spaces for recreation when you've got a fat wallet?!? Who cares about having a clean, healthy planet to leave my children...as long as my stock goes up a 1/4 of a point! Yee-haw!
To the person above me who said they recycle all their beer cans: That's sweet! Just by doing that one small thing, you actually help out a lot. I recycle all my beer bottles too. Now, if we could get EVERYONE to do that, we'd be in business! :)

LOOK OVER THE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE FOLLOWING
TWO HOUSES AND SEE IF YOU CAN TELL WHICH
BELONGS TO AN ENVIRONMENTALIST.
HOUSE # 1: A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by naturalgas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the
average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20times the national average for an American home. This house is not in a
northern or Midwestern "snow belt," either. It's in the South.
HOUSE # 2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then
irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.
HOUSE # 1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore.
HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. Also known as "the Texas White House," it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
So whose house is gentler on the environment? Yet another story you WON'T hear on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC or read about in the New York Times or the Washington Post. Indeed, for Mr. Gore, and people like you it's truly "an inconvenient truth."

They used to be called 'Conservationists.' The conservationist ideal, though, differed from the environmentalist, in seeing man as the caretaker of the planet, and wanting to /conserve/ the planet's resources for the benefit of mankind. Environmentalists, however, see the pristine state of nature - before any human involvement - as the ideal that should be strived for. The environmentalist movement has long sense crowded out the conservationist movement, which was more a turn-of-the-last-century phenomenon.
Modern environmentalism favors government-based solutions, many of which smack of public ownership of resources, which can be a little too socialist for republicans to embrace.

backside-up concept, stricter environmental regulations, professional immigration, larger taxes on the wealthy, professional-gun administration, anti-death penalty, and anti-welfare cuts are all Democrat traits. although, protectionism, extra states rights, and being professional-existence are traditionally Republican traits. additionally on an identical time as traditionally the two events have had presidents who further us into conflict and senators/representatives who authorized it, in the present Iraq conflict approval strengthen into predominantly Republican. and that i definitely can not say the place being against nationalism and secession and being for loose commerce could positioned you. based strictly on the style of issues you suggested, if all have been given equivalent weight, you sound extra like a Democrat. although, there is likewise the choice to forget approximately the two events and the two detect a third social gathering or circulate self sufficient. i've got been self sufficient for some years now and discover it incredibly freeing. i don't sense any tension to vote for Republicans or Democrats, yet incredibly sense like i'm able to easily vote consistent with how i've got self belief is ideal.

We practice conservation in a educated way.
We actually believe the science on the environment and participate in wild life management, forest under growth removal and road building in public parks to prevent catastrophic forest fires,Were for recycling, were for alternative fuels while drilling at home to stop import fuels,
Etc... We also know that CO gasses don't cause global warming.

We are the environmental conservatives! It is our hunting and fishing licenses that pay for the conservation of nature and keep the populations of wild life viable. It is us that fund and demand national parks and preserves. It is us that are the farmers and the game wardens. It is our back yard that you speak of. We are the heart land! Our yards are not concrete, our air is not smog filled, our populations are not so large that we must find other states to ship our waste to.
