my cars a92 ford timpo befor buting the battery in backwards i replaced the plugs wires and distributer cap.with the battery in back wards it and try to fire witch was more than what i was getting beforand then i heard a loud pop i then stoped tried anew battery the correct way it turnd over but would not start

The clock runs backwards!!!

Right. With a dead battery it didn't turn over.

With a live battery backwords it turned over, but that's not better. Hooking up the battery in reverse may have blown any number of systems in the car.
What would keep it from starting would be fuses, fuel pump, electronic ignition or the fuel injection system. Good luck.

You probably killed the battery you put in backwards and probably burned your fusible link.

On top of what wolf says, it generally does foul things to your charging system as well.

You will blow all the diodes in the alternator & the ignition moduel.
